I guess I'll explain why I'm even wanting to do this in the first place. I signed up when my friends told me how awesome this game was. On my third day in game we all moved into a wormhole system that lasted for about 2 weeks. During that time I made a bit of money doing all of the buy runs for the corporation. Then some Alliance bullshit started and we moved to lowsec. I was comfortable in low, but everyone made a big deal of not leaving the station when there was a war target in system. Then some more alliance bullshit started (new alliance), and so we went back to greener pastures (WH). I just got out of about a month of wormhole living. During this whole time, I made no money, even though I helped out on a daily basis. I was expecting profit sharing, but that never happened. And then someone who we trusted stole 5 Billion in assets from us, and the corp. has broken up.
So now I can either spend the rest of my game either high sec mining, or go to null sec. (have two groups willing to take me, one well known, one not), or I could join Faction Warfare. I enjoy the lore side of the game, and this one sounds the most interesting to me.
tl;dr I want to join FW.
Now I am a pretty low skilled pilot (http://eveboard.com/pilot/Comrade_SLFreeman). Even though I'm Caldari, I've trained more into Amarr ships and skills, and I enjoy them more.
I would like to know: 1. Am I skilled enough to join? 2. Can I join FW and mainly fly Amarr, or should I just go to Amarr FW (I'm alright with either choice, but I do not want to go Gallente or Minmattar) 3. Is there any money to be made, and how much do I need to enter with.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I've tried looking through some of the forums, but a lot of the threads seem to be a bunch of trolls with a bit of information. Also, my search bar seems to not be working to well at the moment. So if you could answer my questions, and any other info you want to throw in, I would be eternally grateful! |

Thermodynamics you should train for frigate pvp especially, otherwise you are low SP but you can still pvp. I assume you are probably missing a lot of the basic knowledge of aggression and gate/plex/station mechanics, so I would seek out a corp that would help you on that (on the Caldari side which you seem interested in joining, look up the characters Mutnin and Bolsterbomb from their posts it sounds like they are newbie friendly and I see them out in lowsec a fair amount).
Otherwise, you are definitely lacking skills and expect to generally get stomped in 1v1 pvp by higher SP players, but you can participate and learn.
Comrade SLFreeman wrote: 2. Can I join FW and mainly fly Amarr, or should I just go to Amarr FW (I'm alright with either choice, but I do not want to go Gallente or Minmattar)
I assume you mean "Can I join caldari FW and fly amarr". Yes.
Comrade SLFreeman wrote: 3. Is there any money to be made, and how much do I need to enter with.
There is definitely money to be made - but you need to be in the know of when your militia is pushing a high tier as that is when you want to cash out your LP. (That or watch your warzone control often and if you see it spiking get ready to buy). I don't know how the Caldari go about organizing their LP pushes, but at least in the Minmatar militia the militia chat is spammed with "upgrade upgrade" when a tier push is going on (and you can see the upgrade bar spiking).

I was just stating that if someone is in the system, I shouldn't be told to sit in station for 3-4 hours. Either get a fleet together to deal with the problem, or let me fly out. If I lose a ship its my own fault, not like I'm the type of person who would ***** over losing a ship. Also I don't want to join Gallente or Minmatar due to RP reasons. |

Let me translate for you a bit, in as neutral tone as possible.
X G said that your old corp would suit the Caldari because of their tendency to dock up when war targets were in system. He was trolling the Caldari for what he perceives as their non-willingness to fight.
Then Rigel kind of went along with it, and then wanted you to join Gallente so he could shoot you (a lot of older guys in FW see you as an easy killmail, which you probably will be repeatedly while you learn the ropes).
Then X G basically trolled again saying don't join Caldari because you will become how he perceives them, docking and not fighting.
Note that this isn't a recruitment forum, nor do you need to necessarily be recruited to join Factional Warfare (You can just join the State Protectorate if your leanings are in that direction). If you want to join a factional warfare corp, you should probably look towards the recruiting forums. Or try contacting some of the people I listed in my above post that are newbie friendly. |

Gotcha, after I posted that I realized it was trolling, but saw no way to retract the comment. And I'm not personally looking for a corp. here. Was just looking for advice, and cat, you gave that to me. So thank you. |

Here's how it goes, join caldari (preferably my corp), watch x gal run from your dual prop hookbill. EVERY. F@CKING. TIME. Because caldari ships are superior to gallente ones, the hookbill is argueably the best faction frigate. The cormorant is probably the best destroyer, followed closely by the coercer (notice that these 2 or the ones CCP think are "underpowered", and they said they wanted to buff them )
Also x gal is one of the directors of gallente propoganda, the only reason caldari would be running from gallente is because they wait until they have nearly ten guys before they'll engage your 2-3 guys, and sometimes (depending on the situation), the caldari will still fight and **** the gallente sideways despite the numbers disadvantage. In the end, the gallente just want you to join their side because they fear caldari being able to match their numbers (which is really the only thing they got going for them, unless you're a "pro" corp like SOTF).
And to dispell any myths. I recruit noobs. They must train caldari ships for our fleets, though (You may be asked to train for a coercer for close range minor brawling, too). Apply today!
TL;DR gallente suck, join caldari |

Join Caldari.
The problem with joining Gallente is the mandatory lobotomy. I always thought that was an excessive requirement to join them.
If you join Gals without the Lobotomy - you will notice strange side effects.
Example - all enemy ships you see you will report as gunless - even if they really do have guns fitted. You will dock up when an enemy enter your system but report in intel that they ran and wouldn't fight. When you see a 3 man WT fleet - you will only counter it with even numbers. Usually a much higher even number. So 3 Caldari means you will need at least 10, 12 or 14 Gallente to fight. A minmatar alt toon will appear on your log in screen.
So yeah - Join Gals, Have the lobotomy and you can do all that stuff without even noticing you are doing it.
Or Join Caldari and sit back thinking 'WTF are these people on???????'
Ok - enough trolling. I better go do some work. Fix this **** See Sea Pea. |

This is only the beginning of the trolling.. be warned every FW thread turns to at least 4 to 5 pages..
Also X Gal was trolling you telling you to join Galentte.. He knows as well as the rest of us that most of Gal Militia always sit hunkered up in a few select systems and never undock with out having a large gang, fleet boosters and 2 to 3 times the numbers of what ever they try to fight. The very few that do go out with out a gang, almost never leave a 3 to 5 jump radius of their home systems so they are well with-in the "HALP ME" network.
Also have you ever seen Breaking Bad? Your Avatar looks like the guy on the show whom ironically looks like a older Gordon Freeman from Half Life..

Props to your corporation Super Chair for not acting like a scared little girl (*cough* Mutnin *cough*) and basing near the frontlines.
