I've recently moved away from 0.0 (reason not related to question) back into High Sec space and I'm currently flying an Ishtar with the following fit:
[High]
2x salvager
1x tractor
1x med rail
1x probe launcher
[Med]
1x AB
3x Cap recharger II
[Low]
1x MAR II
1x EANM
3x Hardeners
[Drones]
10x Med T2
5x Heavy T1 (not skilled for T2)
It currently takes me quite a while to clear out C2 sites but i am able to do them in this ship. my question is this, would it be beneficial for me to upgrade to a command ship (i have the skills) or is this the better ship of the 2 to fly C2 wormholes and high sec exploration sites?

I've done C2s reliably in a drake. That way I have ample DPS without drones. However, I'm betting a command ship would be even better. My problem with the drake has always been the speed. I take a while to run the sites, and I take a while getting between wrecks.
Still, what takes you a while? Is it purely the killing aspect? If so, then yeah a command ship may work a little better.

Yeh its the killing, because as im using T2 Med drones i keep having to recall them as soon as they get targeted.
but then theres the fact that if i go command ship... ill lose a LOT of dps if i want a probe launcher and a salvager on there too..
Just trying to weigh it up.

My drake uses 6 Heavy Missile launchers, 1 probe launcher, and one salvager. I don't get the tractor beam which sucks. However, since I focus on missile damage, I don't have to worry as much about recalling drones. In fact, I rarely use my drones.
I would think an Astarte, with 5 T2 light drones (and 5 for spare) plus 5 Blasters or rails (rails may be good for the range), plus a probe and salvager would give you the needed DPS. The only thing is, fitting an AB or MWD on there so you can get between wrecks faster. You could use 5 T2 medium drones too. I would think only the BS rats would slow you down, and you would have higher DPS than your Istar's lone gun.

I use same fit. To compensate for lack of tractor beam, I use mwd.
