Using Liang's setup except with a t2 EM instead of a-type (really....) that's 130k EHP to lowest resist, which is therm. Pretending that shield regen is the same as 336 DPS tank until shields get to 10%, a ship doing 1500 dps will take just over 105 seconds to kill said drake.
Also pretending the same as above, two perfect skills gank brutixes on overheat will do the job in 68 seconds. Well, more like 72 because they can only overheat for 56 seconds.
Or you can use a typhoon.

Is that considering the fact that the Drake can overheat as well? Will it last long enough if the Drake has overheated shield hardeners and a 7-rack of overheated T2 Heavy Assault Launchers filled with Terror Rage Assault Missiles?
I'm not sure of the answer, which is why I'm asking. I didn't know if you had considered that the Drake had overheated its hardeners.

It sucks I can't find it, but about a year ago I did a tank spread sheet with the best solo pvp drake load out I could find, against all the good solo pvp load out of any other that was coming my way to see what type of damage I should use against what opponent. And of all the ship on that spread sheet the only one I couldn't break the tank was the dominix and the golem. And there wasn't so many of them. On about a hundred load out there was 3 dominix and 2 Golem.
So I guest if you want to beat a drake, you need a BS with crazy Kin resist and very good EM damage thats the way to go.

If you can pull that off then you shouldn't need face-melting firepower to get the kill. One of the advantages of an active tank is that you can effectively "bait" your opponent(s) into thinking that you are going to die soon when in reality you are letting them take you into hull only to keep them interested. If that isn't possible and you can't field the level of firepower needed to melt it in under 60 seconds, you can try bumping it off of whatever gate or station it is hugging.

Good questions. It can't take a drake on overheat, so I've modified. Lose AB and ECCM, add Large Azeotropic and Kinetic Hardener II and it outlasts the drake by 35 seconds, and this is assuming drakes recharge happens *always*, so it will likely outlast by 45-50 seconds.
edit: oops. figures had typhoon taking kin dmg while drake took omni dmg. Correct maths typhoon now outlasts drake by 70+ seconds.

I've been flying Drakes for two years...isn't an MWD/AB MANDATORY on a HAM Drake? If you're going to use HAMs, you need to be able to dictate range to some degree.

Thanks for modeling that out! That's useful information to know. And it just reinforces that Thermodynamics is one of the best mandatory PvP skills. It can turn the tide of a an engagement.

IMO it's terrible fit, but it's basically the worst case scenario you'll encounter when you shoot drakes.

Thanks for posting that. Yeah, that's basically one of the worst case (tank wise) scenarios you'd encounter. That's very close to a PvE ship...except with HAMs. You might see at least 1 SPRII on it too.
My personal fit is probably what's highly likely to be encountered in PvP Drakes, with just 1 extender instead of 3, and 2 hardeners instead of 3. This one has an EM hole of only 66% resist. Really bad against Amarrian ships in general, but swapping a CDFE for an EM shield rig fixes that if I know I'd be likely to encounter them, or switching the web for an EM hardener.
I don't really understand why people use Caldari Navy HAMs unless you're going after small targets. I carry both in my cargohold. Generally if I need to burn something fast, it's something that's dangerous to me, which is a battlecruiser or battleship. Cruisers and below (except for T3, but not counting those as they're not super common) don't have enough DPS for a Drake pilot to have to worry about taking 10 seconds to swap missiles. The sig bloat on the Terror Rage doesn't really matter versus battlecruisers and battleships, since with the 3 CDFE and the large extender, your sig is the size of a battleship anyways.

HAM drake is just a fitting that screams "i-can-solo-pvp-just-like-any-bc-do" cept HM drakes are still very popular with their mobility and damage projection

As a Drake pilot a Phoon doesnt scare me all that much if he is gank format with only 41k EHP since I have 80k EHP and huge range his torps will only be good within 16km at best also at that range the other 3 ACS`s arent doing full DMG.
What is scary as hell in a drake is a Tempest piloted right, its the Anti-Drake IMO, Fast enough to get into perfect range and hell even escape while spewing big time DMG and since its so damned fast no chance of drakes escape. It also can use EM Ammo and have Nuets.

The Nuets are Key here since you will shutdown his Invulns very fast. The Gank Phoon had to use his other 3 Hi`s for weps which is a mistake. This 2 Heavy Nuet/6 Gun fit is overall by far the scariest to me and most drake pilots.

I read the post you wrote but at the time it was before you had done the math. I dont know why it didnt post till 16 hrs later ...LOL
Anyways I just think Nuets are more value`d in this situation than Paper DPS .
Wile the Phoon looks good its 16km Range isnt enough in alot of situations, esp since the guy might undock 30km away and your plated phoon isnt fast enough to cath the Drake with if it has a MWD.

Wile the Phoon looks good its 16km Range isnt enough in alot of situations, esp since the guy might undock 30km away and your plated phoon isnt fast enough to cath the Drake with if it has a MWD.

Neutralizers, while nice in shutting down a Drake's MWD and tackle (which gives you the advantage) aren't a huge advantage when it comes to shutting down hardeners. Hardeners still give a rather large bonus when they're off, assuming you're like me and have the 4 specializations to level 5.

I am pretty sure a drake can get above 140k ehp... shield implants and why only a-type em?
and to the author guy. Drakes do not have good cap regen generally and should not. so they get neuted fairly easily. and since most run active hardeners they will start to shut off on some cycles. and when they are down... you could easily break there passive recharge.
and to the person who suggested all of the super carriers.... he is talking about aggression timers. so it is most likely high sec unless he is really that afraid of gate guns.

and while i didnt do this on the others, overloaded with implants 542k EHP and 1600 DPS omni tanked.
All you have to do to kill a drake is:
1)Keep it pointed 2) Out DPS its tank 3) Out tank its DPS.
On a buffer tanked drake that is not hard. Unless it is officer fitted of course.

The answer is don't try. All these people trying to theorycraft their way to EFT Epeen Stardom are why this section of the forums are filled with so much crap. Even a supercarrier couldn't do it without web and target painter [I know because I have actually been hit by supercaps in a BC]
Wait until he crosses a gate and catch him there. Or you can just pick a better target to grief.
