Is it Maller (Mauler) or Maller (Mallet) or pronunciation. And what is it supposed to mean? SOmething that hammers something else? It would make sense in the Amarr naming Scheme, but I would like some enlightenment on this. |

If something is malleable, it means it can be forced to retain a certain form. A "Maller" is something that enforces that change, something that molds something else into a suitable form; fitting name for a slave cruiser.
It's pronounced Maller as in mall/maul.

Well, If I were to maul someone.... And seeing as this is most probably its original intent in naming. Changing the spelling to Maller was probably an aesthetic change, or perhaps it is relating to the language in ye ole Iceland. Whenever I see the word, or when I first saw the word rather, I imagined something close ranged capable of inflicting various forms of superficial and perhaps even a mortal wound or two onto anything unwise enough to challenge it.

It is an instrument for "improving" other people. On the occasion that I choose to exercise these tools, I am reminded of the words of a very famous and not at well enough remembered Amarrian leftenant of the Empire's yesteryear.
"The instruments of my ship are designed to burn away that which is unnecessary. They will work upon the subject not to destroy him, but to deliver to him perfection. To better him. However, it happens that very few subjects are robust enough to endure this gift. Lustration then, is the most familiar nature of chosen weapon of our glorious and enlightened Society."

I pronounce it maal-ler (as in mallet, but with -er not -et). i believe that the spelling is vital in that it would be called a mauler if it was pronouced that way, not a maller.
I do not think it matters, Amarr is a large place and language is very dfferent on the thousands of planetoid that Amarrians inhabit.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |
