2 Ideas here, both pertaining to salvage
1.) Unsalvaged wrecks collect together after their 2 hours( i think) in space. Once enough mass of salvage has collected, it is scannable. If it is not scanned down it continues to grow (small, medium, large sites). This has been suggested before
2.) Make Destroyed stations, space shuttles, etc salvageable, either with the current mechanic or add new skills/modules for it (seriously, think of all the stuff it takes to make a station, why cant i go find a destroyed station (or destroy 1), and start striping it of the metal its made of? Is there some mandate somewhere that prevents the removal of large scale peices of scrap?
Reasoning can go something like this:
Due to the hostile and deadly environment of EvE, many things are destroyed, thus creating clutter. This clutter is dangerous to civilian vessels with little or no shields (flying into blocks of metal is never good for a ship ), but the various empires do not want to commit resources to "space cleaning" when they have wars going on. Capsuleers, however, would be more than delighted to clean up space for free, selling the salvage they collect to other capsuleers or back to the empires.
Tell me what u think, and please no "this will ruin market",etc

Unsalvaged wrecks aka abandoned ones are removed as I understand it to cleanup the system for the servers, tracking hundreds if not thousands of wrecks in a given system gets messy. You want them ALL to coalesce into one blob somewhere in the system? How long does it last? How many wrecks do you 'add' to it? Does it expire, if so when? When do you stop making it grow? Do you make other wreck blobs or do they all keep feeding the single one that a player can scan and salvage for minutes/hours as it grows.
I think on your second point they'd need to make new salvage materials as well as the materials might actually fill a ship's hold up as the larger structures would take up much more space than ship salvage. Might even need/warrant a special ship to do so as well as additional skills/modules.
Reasoning: Where is the reasoning in salvage wrecks that 'decay' due to the rigors of space magically migrating together in a giant ball somewhere, that might keep growing, spawn other balls etc with no one/thing moving them? Whomever might actually move them, well wouldn't they just salvage them or take the crap instead of piling it all in a single ball or multiple balls for other people/pod pilots to come get?

for part 1: whatever works from ccps POV, or if it wont work, leave it out, not too important
the reasoning section was more for part 2 than part 1 of my post.
also, the orca could hold a decent amount of salvage in its cargo hold, but would still be a large # of trips to completely salvage a station or something. Perhaps work in tandem with a freighter? i dunno

Edit: He's talking about the space shuttle LCO in missions

Supported. It'll get rid of some of those server clutter. But mostly because I want cheaper rigs.

Hmm... Some of this is actually interesting, and may make salvaging an actual profession unto itself...
1. When wrecks are abandoned or time out the server counts the number of wrecks, and their type and adds them up... The next day it generates a debris field, filled with what amounts to asteroids of debris that drop salvage comparable to the removed wrecks of the previous 24 hours. This debris field would be scanned as a grav site and thus available for use much like asteroid belts are spawned.
2. Abandoned and destroyed stations would be heavily picked over by people... since most of those stations have been busted up for quite some time already, so they probably wouldn't result in much salvage.
I'd definitely go for that... though implementing it would be a bit tricky.

We don't need wreck globs, or debris fields either...
When someone kills the first ship in a room, it spawns 3 things. - A neutral wreck - A corp tagged Jet Can - A Mag site beacon
Subsequent kills in the same room produce the wreck and can each.
This would mean that professional Salvagers (not to be confused with ninja salvagers) want to find wrecks, they can kick out Core probes instead of Combats.
If the player doesn't salvage their own wrecks, the Mag site beacon can be tracked down by anyone else.
When they arrive, anyone can tractor the neutral wreck. But only the victors can tractor the loot.
This would mean that players who choose to blitz missions won't be leaving loot and salvage to the depths of space for 2hrs. And it would mean that (maybe) people could quit using Combat probes to harass runners who haven't even had a chance to salvage their own kills. |

not really much discussion here
what do you all think? should we as capsuleers be able to clean up large clutter in deadspace and beyond, such as the destroyed stations, batteries, space shuttles, etc in missions?
the unsalvaged wrecks becoming a scannable site doesnt really matter too much to me, but it makes sense to be able to salvage large structures

I agree.
