Recently, I tried warping to a few celestial objects around new Eden -- specifically moons, planets and stars. What determines the initial distance at which you land when you warp to the object? Is there any way to approach them other than manually piloting the 140k odd kilometers it dumps you away?
Are there any odd physics relating to the celestial objects scattered about New Eden? Do collision physics come into play? Can stars cause damage (thermal?) to ships?
Do any of you have any interesting stories to tell about your pre-Tyrannis "planetary interactions"? My curiosity abounds...

Its an arbitrary and predefined distance, specific warp in coordinate. So everyone warping to zero will arrive a hand ful of meters from that point. The exact means of how CCP picked that coordinate are unknown to me.

I've heard that some reject warp ins, but have been unable to confirm this.

No, you'll fly striaght through a planet. All you'll get is visual fvck ups when you reach the edge of a planet, where you screen fills with white lines.

If you find two positions such that when you warp from one to the other you pass through the planet (surprisingly common in EVE, given the chance!), you can try to make a bookmark while "inside" the planet. Takes some luck, but I've seen several of these. Once a fleet I was in was staging inside one of the planets, to the great amusement of everyone involved. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

warp to a customs office with a ship with an MWD, slow-boat towards the planet for about 10 mins, or however long it would take your ship to travel 500km. congrats, your now inside the planet
