If I remember correctly the nexus chips can be used to convert normal ships to fleet issue ships in LP-stores. (example:stabber -> fleet stabber)

Just check the lp-store for all the items you need.
Example: for a fleet stabber you would need: 1 T1 stabber, 1 Nexus chip, other stuff.
Just gather all the stuff in your hangar until all the red crosses disappear from the item in the store and buy it.
This is just a fake example, I don't now the correct items by heart.

You also require a certain amount of loyalty points for the faction you're buying from. Say to get a navy megathron you need 600.000 LP with the federation navy, a normal megathron and an alpha nexus chip.

Gallente Alpha Nexus chip is used to purchase the Megathron Navy Issue and Dominix Navy Issue (and possibly other stuff)
The chip is required along with a Loyalty Point cost and a t1 variant of the ship.
Loyalty points for the Navy Mega come from working for Gallente corporations, not sure if all the stores are exactly the same but the Federation Navy corporation store has them for sure - the LP cost from here is 600k LP.
The Navy Domi can only come from the Federation Defense Union loyalty store which is accessed by becoming part of the Gallente Militia (faction war). Missions from FDU can be tricky if you are do not have some pvp common sense as they all spawn in low-sec and a system wide beacon shows up on the overview once you warp to your mission. The Navy Domi LP cost is 150k LP. In addition the Navy Mega can also be purchased from the FDU store at a cheaper LP cost of 250k LP (bit of a trade off for the high risk involved compared to high-sec mission running).
Both the Navy Mega and Navy Domi are decent ships so the chips themselves sell pretty well although the market can fluctuate. It's worth checking a few regions before deciding to sell. Villore/Dodixie/Oursualert systems might be worth checking but also non-gallente trade hubs are sometimes worth a look if you have the time.

imo the use of LP for that purpose is a waste of lp making the chips damn near worthless, they used to have npc buy orders for em too, worked out to 1000isk/lp if I remember correctly.
