I was only running missions in hi sec and could not help but notice the increase in lag , I'm asking for a cause? is it Player created? or code driven? is this because the update was pushed back till Thursday? no troll need apply thankx , TLR

Edited by: Xavier Veridis on 31/08/2010 11:04:17 Had a bit of lag missioning last night as well - my gut feeling was that it was database related. Don't know if was in some way related to the extended database related DT yesterday but might be worth seeing if it improves after next DT.
Wouldn't have thought it was related to the delayed update though.
Edit: Just to clarify my reason for thinking it was database related is that for me it seemed to affect market and looting/salvaging most i.e. moving stuff into my cargohold.

It was probably a large engagement such as Hi-sec warfare, or large groups slugging it out in a usually quite lo-sec system.
One server runs multible systems, and big fights disrupt this, a lot of people are mad so deal until it is fixed.

Have you checked your ping to/from the server @ 87.237.38.200?
Mine have been 250-300 for the last 48 hrs. Causing client drop outs and lag spikes.

26 packets transmitted, 26 received, 0% packet loss, time 25059ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 90.629/91.942/93.617/0.837 ms

Not very well-known facts : * occasionally, ICMP ("ping") traffic might be handled differently from "regular" traffic, to protect from specific DDoS type attacks * "forward" BGP routing might not be identical to "backward" BGP routing, so "pinging" or "tracerouting" something will not always yield mirrored results when done from the other side

We had a large fleet engagement in E9KD-N that was cause for lag prob. We had over 500+ pilots for a few hours slugging it out.

I would suggest this. It has been known that in large scale fleet battles surrounding systems, areas and regions can suffer. I was a member of a 0.0 alliance so know all to well big fleet battles also mean big lag. It wasn't a problem pre dominion/tyranis but something is causing it now and recent blogs have suggested CCP are on it.
