I know right. Holding aggro with cans and wrecks is hard. This one time I insulted the manufacturer of this can and he got mad and agrroed but then I couldn't keep threat so he reset.
Don't even get me started about those wrecks.. You need at least 6k dps in dots alone to keep aggro with them.

You were doing the right thing. The concord warning is a bug, the same as the subject not getting their timer updated. As long as you keep agroing them and don't let there be a 15 min gap in the middle (stopwatch is great for this) you are fine.

CCP has made it clear that they will reimburse carebears who fall victim to aggro extension, though they are lamely refusing to call it a bug or an exploit. ---- Blog: My Loot, Your Tears |

And whiny hardcore PVPers have made it clear they don't like it. And I don't know how hell you could stay interested after more then a few minutes of the guy docking up and warping back every 15 minutes to keep the timer going in case he undocks in an expensive ship. Moving along now...

Grieving is hard work, takes dedication.
And since the carebear doesn't get timer or warning popup, he won't know and often undock right after 15 minutes is up.

i never used wrecks to keep agro... just feels too lame.
and i know CCP will give their ship back if you kill them with this tactic. dunno if thei will even call it exploit one day or not.
then again... i grief the griefers most of the time... and its fun to see them emorage when things dont go as planned :D some of them give better reactions than bears. ---------------------------------- Fighting for something

Lol.. it is a bug, but one that will still get you a concordokken. You need to dock and undock (forcing a session change) before you can extend aggro again.
Now, since anyone can tell that aggro is being extended against you it is only now effective against the foolish and the brave.

You can extend the agro indefinitely using wrecks (scramming them is typically optimal).
Use stopwatch or some other timer, if you get a concord warning, any session change will fix this, go back to the wreck scram away, wait for unsuspecting target to warp back to his belt, mission, whathaveyou.
There was a pretty stellar Suddenly Ninja's blog/guide/post somewhere on this.

Yeah Arden.. Thats exactly what I was talking about.
Pretty sure I learned it from you though- when you popped a CNR in Laah, with a Vagabond.. an hour later.

CCP had denied refund of ship to two people I know personally; both of them had this type of aggression timer extension used on them since the CNR kill.
That is at least a little bit of good news for happy ninja types. Shame that CCP can't take a line and hold to it.

Actually, I've never killed a CNR. The shiniest thing I've killed with a vaga was a Machariel, and that was in Balginia.

Coulda swore it was you- the someone in SN killed a CNR that was missioning, and I remember talking to you about it in the SN Channel...

No longer true. With the long history of CCP breaking and attempting to fix aggro timers, the misunderstanding is understandable.
As it currently stands aggro extension is possible by shooting wrecks, but sometimes requires a session change and even then may be unpredictable.
On the victim's side, however, the timer will update as far as I have seen and been told. The "someone can kill you!" warning popup still appears.
And a senior GM has stated that the functionality is something for which CCP will consider reimbursement for. At this point, I am not personally using aggro extension mechanics. I agree with others that wish CCP would, whether they fix it or not, at least come down one way or the other about it being an exploit. This would be similar to the neutral POS repping aggro mechanics which allow a neutral third party to repair a POS in hisec without war targets being able to do jack or squat about it. CCP has declared it to be an exploit, but has not fixed it. |
