Edited by: Celestine Santora on 01/09/2010 19:42:23 Right now I have two disruptors for pointing two separate targets. It works well enough but I've found myself in several situations where the target was a fast ship and I was the only one in the gang that could catch it. Without any way to slow that ship down, my point doesn't really do any good since he still has his speed and nobody else can catch him.
I'm considering swapping one of my disruptors for a web, as I see it:
Pros: - Can slow down fast ships for the fleet to catch up to Cons: - Can't point two ships at once - Even with a web some ships will still be pretty fast since I can't shut off their MWD - It would be unused most of the time since I don't orbit in web range
So with all those cons is this a good idea or should I just stick to tackling the big stuff and say "oh well" to the fast ships playing with us?

Edited by: raukosen on 01/09/2010 20:06:13 The problem with a ceptor trying to web stuff is that you risk getting webbed / scrammed / neuted yourself. For every ship you catch this way you're probably going to lose a ceptor trying to catch someone else. Get a Rapier in gang, or even a Hyena.
I wouldn't fit 2 disruptors anyway tho, try to squeeze in an MSE

I wouldn't use either. Let the ships with bonuses to such things or the ships which get close fit a close range scram/web(Such as a Taranis or cheap throwaway frig). Your main job is to get the initial point and hold it until someone else can get a point. I'd prefer using something like this.

Three ways to fit tackle inty
1) sebo fastlock (tbh a very small role, only recommend it maybe 5% of the time..better ships for this job most of the time) 2) MSE (30-40% of the time fit this... specifically for any >30 fleet engagement) 3) Mwd, long point, short point (55-60% use on this.. use with any roam which you are primary tackle, as that short point lets you fight a lot of things you otherwise couldn't catch)

Scram>Web for slowing down nano ships.
[Ares, Fleet tackle] Signal Amplifier II Damage Control II Overdrive Injector System II Overdrive Injector System II
Warp Disruptor II Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I Catalyzed Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Small 'Knave' I Energy Drain Light Electron Blaster II, Null S Light Electron Blaster II, Null S
Small Targeting System Subcontroller I Small Targeting System Subcontroller I
The NOS is so you can hold scram under neuts, rigs are to taste, polycarbs are probably just as good. Anything that requires more than the base lock speed of a 'ceptor will probably be quick enough to get back to gate and jump anyway so it's very situational.

I like the scram/disruptor approach. You stick with the range bonuses the ship provides, so that the overheated scram is as ranged as the o/h web (with inty lvl 4) and off course a scram provides a far greater speed reduction when applied on an opponent compared with a single web.
And off-course you can point 2x ships at the same time this way, or apply 3x scrambling strength vs. a stabbed foe.
Fitting SeBos in ceptors is a big no-no-no IMHO, as it's proven in-game that ships that get away from you, still do: non-plated frigs (T1/T2), cloak capable ships etc - those all escape you no-matter if you boost your sig res to 1500mm from 1100~1200mm or not. Yeah, stories from various courses claim otherwise, but I won't take more than 10 mins to try it with 1-2 of your m8s, having them jump in in fast stuff and you trying to point them before they warp out or cloak...even remotely boosted ceptors / frigs with sig res well above 2-2500mm won't be able to do it. It's an intended feature.
A signal amplifier is ok to use in the lows, as it gives you locking range on-top of some scan res, and that's a different story as without it - or an ionic field projector rig that works fine as-well - your o/h disruptor range (even at inty @ lvl 4) reaches further when you lock. That's a waste. Oh, and not wasting that bonus means you can tackle comfortably away from heavy neut range.
Fit a DC for some buffer against drones etc, and fast tracking guns/rockets to calmly bring down the small drones that will trail you in orbit...rest slots/rigs should be speed/agility oriented. Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game! |

Can the others use web-drones? Just so long that they can get into scram range? Stop whining. |

Id say stick with what you have, you only really need the web if you are going to be doing the shooting yourself.

Use mse or tracking disruptor. Using scram will kill you, if you want to go into scram range in unprepared inty /without nos, buffer and ab or web - ab is better/, you can as well use suicide tackle vigil or sth.
