Edited by: HanzLanda on 02/09/2010 16:46:32 So now that the dice are rolled, I will be bold enough to explain my views on the Atlas - xxxDeathxxx dealio
Ok, the deal goes like this:It all delves in into several super caps Atlas had in production, about 11/13 if i recall correctly. Those were the CSAA that were pushed into first reinforcement mode by Pandemic Legion and held as hostage.
While a few CSAA might seem like nothing for an alliance as big as ATLAS, unexplainably, they were brought to knees bcz of this bargaining chips, without a fight.
We basically can resume the deals as this:
1. Both sides give Chribba cash as collateral. 2. If one side ****s up, the other side the whole pot
Example, if Pandemic Legion would suddenly abort all super caps in production, Atlas would get about 200bil
In the unlikelyness that Atlas did not handed over those Supercaps, they will be losing around 65bil they put in the pot themselves and very likely being ganked anyways.
This is the reason they want to get the first Erebus and the Nyxes for xxxDeathxxx and PL ASAP.
This deal has not been greeted anonymously by Atlas leadership, ranging from some sides naming it as statutory **** to other calling it plain vanilla mexican-gang-****.
The funny thing is that while nearly everyone is raging-mad about this deal, all is it needs is a single rogue Atlas FC and a brave fleet to throw this deal to the ground-floor with some action against either xxxDeathxxx or their Pandemic Legion mercs.
Who knows, maybe some members could get the fight Bobby offered them in O-W and maybe leave Atlas with some honor on their hands. Speaking of bobby, as far as i know, it was a middleman who brokered the deal between Bobby and the ruskies, so bobby could cash out of this, so say he would leave the space and get cash for it and who knows, maybe come back and start again, remember that BobbyÆs wallet is ôfatö.
LetÆs be honest, no-one will expect Bobby to come back after this, but am pretty confident that he will come back and return as the Alliance Magical savior and droves of followers will support him in a very nostalgic drive for past glorious days. On the other hand i believe Bobby miscalculated the extend of the repercussions the alliance leadership could have at being mad at him.
As for Bobby quitting EVE, which is the buzz phrase atm, i donÆt see it as a definitive, since we all know how addictive this game really is, and while in RL you might feel the heat of some changes, once u settle down again u get the little bug of having a blast in EVE again.
So there you have it, have fun an discuss!

Even if the supercap deal falls through, the ability to evac made the deal a massive upgrade over dying miserably.

This is true to some extend, but you need to remember that the O-W debacle happened because of "fail to act", rather than a "failed act", I encourage you to band together and start acting, you leadership basically failed you, how about actually trying to do something out of this.
I have pointed you out the main reason all this happened. What did u though was happening the 8-10 hours you guys spent forming up in O-W? he was setting up his deal, not your deal, but HIS.
Your statement is clear whether your honor has a price or not, i have no doubt that this is your personal opinion and am hopeful that this is not shared by the gross membership of your alliance. My personal opinion is that billions of billions of assets is worth less than defending the alliance and the principles that allowed you to get those assets in the first place, and the time invested by the pilots and wasted by their leadership in being played over like they are being played now.
After all, why admit defeat before even the first shot has been fired?
Thanks for your reply. - HanzLanda

The hand of the idiot must be held at all times, especially in EVE ... you died like a papertiger, get over it. --- I smack just for myself. Allow faction cap boosters to be traded via normal market ! |

You're kidding us, right?
If such a thing existed still in ATLAS, that fictional FC would prolly have already podded his own leadership after this disgrace they brought upon the alliance. Tempted to say "Mad props!" to PL for making the remainder of ATLAS the current laughing stock of nullsec...

The only reason BoB lasted so long was because of the tower grind. Admit it, the only entity that has withstood a proper invasion is the NC. Ironic really.

I seem to remember BoB sitting sulking in a station for 2 months before daring to undock. Had this been a conquerable station then they too could well have entertained a deal that allowed members to get their stuff out.

I think you forget The many failed invasions against BoB, Nc+Pl+Russians+goons+Tortuga ring a bell? Bob took their licks and kept going rather well.
Also don't forget the NC crumbled to the MC+friends invasion that lead to the crumbling of a number of huge alliances.

The Atlas leadership have already quashed any uprising by withholding all reimbursements, of which there are a very very long line.
Quote:
I have been told that some of the corps leaving Atlas this week intend to use their cap fleets to take out some of the supercap towers to prevent us from honouring the deal with the russians, thus losing the 65Billion we have deposited with Chribba, so as a safeguard I am delaying all reimbursements

Going down in a blaze of glory would have been a better approach. Anyone that disagrees with this, can just go make your GF breakfast while she is in your best friends bed.
And as stated here, many ppl are at their best friends house making her breakfast right NOW!! LOL

The NC did not exist at that point, no. D2 is what collapsed, spelling the end of a superpower holding hegemony over the North.

the end of what superpower? D2 was merely a collection of former allies which had been kicked out of the north by BoB/-5- in the first place... kinda the same as IT just not as large.
The "current" NC is nothing more then a superblob, anyone tries to attack 1 entity in the alliance and everyone throws their pvp'ers at them. It's a stalemate that can only go down through it's own boredom.
To get back to the quote, you ended the "hegemony" of G over the north (face it, D2 was G reincarnated) and instead put in place the NC with all its faildom and boredom. I agree the NC as a whole is a force to be reckoned with, but not due to its PvP prowess, but rather its ability to outblob anyone that gets within 200 light years of its space.
And at the end lets go back to the guy saying "the nc is the only one that hasnt faultered from invasion" and I would like to just end that with saying "yet"

I'd say it has more to do with the fact that they are stupid rich, not so much the blobbing. NC didn't outblob Atlas & Friends or IT during the last invasion.
Because of the prominence that blobbing has taken nowadays, it's more about who can cost the other one more isk.
PL ransomed more isk and assets than Atlas could afford to lose.
