Edited by: Nathvas on 04/09/2010 12:31:36 After a slow start to my pirating career, it toke off tonight with a spectular bang.
So about 15 minutes before DT I undocked in my Arazu and cloaked. I then saw something on my scanner that made me omg wtf. I almost paniceked, but I immedietatly started scanning with directional and got down about 30degrees and saw only 2 belts, and immedtately warped to one at 100km. no luck. so I warped to the second one at 100km. bingo!!! A retreiver and a orca in the belts!?! I BM the roid near them and immediatly warped back to station and docked, 10 minutes before DT. I pull the warp disruptor and warp scrambers while I waited for the 30s session time to finish. Damn scotty your slow.
I switch to my thantos carrier Avalon, and I immiedatly rip out two cap rechargers puting in a second warp disruptor and a warp scrambler. Then Avalon and I undocked, 7 minutes till DT. I warp to the roid at 10km. hopping it was where I thought it was. For what seem like a enternatiy, my carrier swong around and accerelated. While I waited, my heart raced in turbo, and I activate the sesnor booster and armor hardners. Doubted a fight, but you never know. Finally, she entered warp, 3.8au from dest.
As the warp tunnel swirled around Avalon, I primed one the warp disrupters and a warp scramblers for immediate use. Those two where going on the orca, she was primary and the second one for the retriever. As the the warp tunnel destablized, I got the jitters. Would the roid be the right one. Would it be close enough for the scrambler? Could I kill a orca with fighters before it warped if I miscaulated the distance? What if they had warp core stablizers? What if I bounced off a roid? All this went threw my mind as the distance shortened to a thousand km. Fortunatly, none of my worries came threw as I landed 10km from the roid, and within 7km of the of the orca and retreiver. \o/
As soon as the warp singal disappeared from my hub, I immedately targeted the orca, 2s till lock. I then targeted the retreiver and launched my fighters. Sombody was in for some butt hurt. Then the primed disrupoter and scrambers engage and the fighters follow suite, guns blazing in their firey furry. Over the comms, concord informed me that my security statues had been lowerd due to my actions. My reply, "STFU I don't care!!" Then the Retriever was locked, and I threw the last point on him, after all, Avalon is a hungry carrier who hasn't eaten any one lately.
The fighters are making quick work of the orca which is now in structure with the heavy energy neuts sapping her capicator, but the retreiver is moving away and I'm about to get stuck on the orca, so I ordered the fighters to kill the retreating retriever. Less then 20s and the retriever dies in a blaze of lights.
I then set my fighters back on the orca and move the now free point onto it. Overkill, maybye, but you never know with CCP as I had one retriever with 3 points still warp off on me earlier this week.
The fighters quickly tear into the burning orca and just before it dies. A drake appears. I nearly jump out of my skin, my first thought "WTF!? where that come from?" I now realize that the retriever piolet had launched the Drake, wither to deny the chance of it being part of the wreck or to save it, I do not know, nor do I care.
I start to target the drake, and the orca exploids, a ring of fire expanded from the wreck and its dead husk remains. I immediately start taking screen shots for personal ego stroking and the drake is finally targeted.

Edited by: Nathvas on 04/09/2010 12:32:49 Edited by: Nathvas on 04/09/2010 12:32:00 I place all 4 points and the two heavy energy neuts on the Drake, after all, who can pass up seconds? The drake's mighty sheilds melt like their nothing, and in 30s the drake is dead.
I immediatly loot the wrecks, but meh nothing really good in them. Tech 1 drones, couple of sheild modules, tech 2 cargo expander..... some other misc stuff.
I then start warping back to the station. DT in 3 1/2 minutes till DT. Nearly half a bill damage literally done in 2-3 minutes. Even the mightest of gankers would be proud of that.
1 minute 45s, docking accepted. Once docked, I immedatily start copying and pasting the KM to the KB, common faster, type faster fingers!! As I paste the KM, and fill in the pw for each kill. Granted the kills would still be there after DT, but my ego demands it now!!! 35s till DT, last KM posted. Succeess. Crtl Q. Time to rest.

Warping a carrier to a belt or a gate is always a risky move but doing so is not stupid by any means (even solo). I've done it, I've even sieged a dread in a belt for 2 cycles. It's all about assessing the risks and whether or not the reward is worth the risk. In that particular case I would have simply dropped a BS with multiple points on them. But that's just me. The real question is can you afford to lose or do without the ship? If the answer is yes, then it's a simple risk/reward calculation. If the answer is no, then you're a station hugging capital noob/carebear. Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

Reason I chose my carrier was the amount of time till DT and the fact I didn't have a BS avialable because I never expected to catch anything like this. There is also the fact that with my skills, fighters would do just as much if not more damage then mega with blasters. With my skills, a single tech 2 ogre does about 2/3 the damage a tech 2 ion blaster does with antimatter rounds and this was with a mega that does not have bonuses to drone damage. So you can imagine, the dps with a carrier using fighters it is much more.
Sure it was a risk, but a caculated one. I've been in this system and rest of the pocket the entire week. I know generally when the population spikes and drops. I know who are regulars, and who isn't generally. I also know I could tank just about anything short of a multiple SC drop for the last several minutes before DT.
So, if you can't handle it. Get out of my kitchen, I got piwating acts to accomplish!!

Not exactly fight of the century. I look forward to the "ten mins to dt, fun with spiders" thread where you bravely rip the legs off a common housespider.

Is that a Nyx in your pocket?
Edit: A single SC can kill you in less than 5 minutes easily. Welcome to super caps online... On another note, I also have an annoying sig. |

Really. So this didn't happen when I attacked a retriever with my Arazu that has 3 points on it. Right.

To Flamers: Who cares what ship he pirates in? Or what ships he chooses to kill in said ship? He had good intel on the location, waited for near DT, used the ships he had, got some kills, and shared the experience with us - thats all +1 in my book.
