Hello,
I want to save the data from the api functions: http://api.eve-online.com/char/WalletJournal.csv.aspx?userID=xxxx&apiKey=xxxxID=xxxxx and http://api.eve-online.com/char/WalletTransactions.csv.aspx?userID=xxxx&apiKey=xxxxID=xxxxx
I would like to save them in either two workbooks or if I have to two spreadsheets.
Right now if I try to do it from within Excel (2010) using the external data from web, it wants to save it as the csv file, not in the spreadsheet.
Thanks

I believe there's a XML version of the wallet ? why not use that.
- acces the page in the browser, save it as XML. - activate the "developers" tab in Excel - click SOURCE, the new tab XML Maps. - ADD.. -> select the saved XML - now .. with the new MAP ( it will be shown in the tab opened when you clicked source ) drag the info you need in new columns. - after you've set it up the way you want. on the same developers tab click import and select the saved wallet xml

Sorry for not explaining well enough. I don't want the XML data, I want the text data, or cvs. The API I listed wants to save it to a file, but I was wondering if there is a way in Excel to just pull the data, without saving it. If not, anyone got a powershell or some other script that can pull the http data and save it to a file? I am trying to automate the process because I have 4 characters and getting all the files is anoying via a browser.
thanks

Yes there is. it has been explained in this forum numerous times. Both for Excel and Open Office. (Hint) Of course you might need to spend some time for browsing this forum past the front page ... -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Yes and a decent search engine would be nice to have on these forums, but oh well we make to with what we don't have. Instead of smart ass remarks move on and read another post or post something useful.

Ever heard of that brand new search engine called Google?
[Added] And you really should try that link. You might learn about a paramter that can be used with Google that narrows down your search to a great extend. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Deceduto - I don't know why I bother doing this since if you're not even able to learn how to search for it yourself I don't know how you'll ever be able to understand how to use it either but I have something for you to try in Google which apparently you've just found out about try copy and pasting the following into the little white area and press the search button, you do know how to do that right?
eve online excel wallet journal
The second result seem to even show the code you'll need etc.
Is my response also meant to pi$$ you off? Yes because those of us that are on these forums all the time get very tired of seemly every week somebody asking this question and similar questions as soon as the answer falls off the first page and sometimes even before . Should we be a bit nicer about it? Probably, but when I can come up with the above search at 2AM while half asleep in less than 30 seconds and I don't have any interest in what you want to do and have never tried to find the answer before but was able to find it then just maybe you can understand why everyone has responded the way we have. -- Finds camping stations from the inside much easier.
