I think they are refering to this:
"Amarr Carrier Skill Bonuses:
50% bonus to Capital Energy and Armor transfer range per level"
To the OP: As others have said, fly which ever you want. Generally for fleet ops most people consider the Archon the best. The tanking, energy and armor logistic bonuses seem to be the best combination.
All of the carriers have their strengths and weaknesses.
Here is how I see it:
Archon: Best for fleets. Not much else. Ugly.
Chimera: Best for POS repping and looking cool.
Niddy: Best for actually doing logistics.
Thanny: Best for PVE and lowsec PVP.

RR Bonus in a Carrier group is Cap transfer, as you will be keeping in packs and needing to be stable so you all use Cap Energy transfers 50% means you have more buddies and more allies whom you can Transfer Armor or Cap to when they are in trouble.
Also Thanny is hideous a Beak looking thing sticking out on 1 side looks like they welded a prophecy on 1 side of the Thanny lol.

I guess 95% of the EvE community falls under the insane category, not surprising really

Soo what carrier pilot I should buy for only pvp? Amarr pilot? Aeon vs Nyx? Nyx due dps? But then Archon is better than Thanny, should I train both?

Between the two I would go for Aeon because it has the largest buffer. Therefore it can apply its DPS longer.
But if I personally got a SC it would be the Hel because I'm all about Minmatar.

Go for Amarr because it is way beter as a race, remember the toon you get will also be able to use a Zealot/Geddon/Apoc/Abaddon/Curse as well as Archon which is best carrier and Aeon which is overall the best MOM IMO. It does 8k DPS apposed to the 10k DPS but has 30% more Tank, and 8k DPS is massive.
So on the way you can use the best fleet race in other aspects of game, and also the best Logi in the Guardian.
Gal doesnt have as much in the best ship area.

I'll have to agree with most people that the archon is the best of the carriers.
Its bonus to armor and cap transfer range + resist to armor just aligns perfectly with the most common tanking style of fleet battles that are using large ships (as in BS and higher)
Now the Nid (which I personally fly and consider second best carrier for this type of fleet battle)is not as good for the same role. While it does get bonus to amount it reps this does not compete with the resist bonus.
As in, 5% bonus to Shield and Armor transfer amount per level < 5% bonus to all Armor resistances per level and even if that bolded statement was not true(which it is)the fact that Nid does not have cap transfer range bonus also makes it harder to spider tank cap when in a longer fight (you still can and I am training cap tranfer skills, I'll just need to remain close to person I'm cap transfering)

It gets range bonuses to armor tanking, and an armor resist bonus, which means that it's going to last longer than a Thanatos in an armor gang, while still giving out the same reps as it, along with the ability to transfer cap instead of loldamage.

Exactly what he said the 200 DPS means **** in a fleet battle compared to getting adn giving cap enough to change the outcomes of battles.
And with Resist bonus your buddies RR has to work alot less hard to rep rather than raw HP.
So lose a frig`s DMG and have a cap stable way more effective RR spyder tank of carriers.

That's true, but the Archon's fancy resists only become relevant when it's getting shot at. And who is going to primary Archons when there are other carriers on the field?

There is no such thing as best :) fly what suits your style and what you need.
Personally I fly a Niddy on my main and he has all compensation and required support, drone skills to V. It works like a charm for hotdrops, missions, plexs. Granted the fit has to be switched around for the various scenarios.
Now thinking of going for a Thanny only cause of the extra fighter firepower. Each race has a different set of bonuses so each suit a different situation and has it's roles.
