Every so often when undocking or jumping through a gate, you emerge at just the right position at the right time for the camera to catch some ship(s) streaming past you in very Star-Warish dramatic fashion.
It happens so rarely, but it's really cool to watch.
I was wondering if it were possible to code eve to determine the best camera angle for such visual effects on a constant bases every time you undock or jump through a gate.

That is clearly one of the more pressing issues right now.

It's aesthetics man. If the game doesn't look good, nothing else really matters.

This is actually not one of your worst threads, that being said why do you insist on creating a ridiculous amount of threads and why do you feel that you are somehow so much better than us that your thread doesn't belong in the suggestions forum, being that it is in fact an idea/suggestion?
Oh, and why are you posting on this failure instead of Nooma all of a sudden.

False, I give you a correction. If the game doesnŠt work good nothing else really matters

I like. But you should be able to turn it off in case of imminent pvp etc.
Maybe if CCP would work at this, they could implement specific camera drones / probes as a tool for movie producers and/or vain people. Recruiting. |

I've been thinking of a "cinematic camera mode". When you turn it on it will automatically pick different cool views (somewhat like in GTA 3: San Andreas; when you just stood idle your avatar would start looking at stuff that happened around him after a while).
If we had something like that and you turned it on during a lvl 4 mission stuff would look really dramatic and awsome while you blast your way through hoards of NPC battleships.
Nothing I'd say should be a very high priority for CCP, but still, could be cool if there were some time over...

I agree. You should be able to turn it on or off. As for priorities, the scorpion remake wasn't exactly a game busting priority now, was it?
@Nooma: Hi sis, it's been awhile.

Sir I support your fight to stop all these new feature wh*res who don't understand that CCP needs to fix there core games preformance and polish quality, instead of jamming new half finished features at us.

Agreed, if you are in warp or auto pilot, or haven't moved your mouse for a while, the cinematic camera takes over. It would make travel through highsec much more enjoyable.
GTA & Red Dead Redemption are great examples.

I thought about this before too. A cinematic camera would bring a lot to the game. Lets say you have a target, once you turn the C.C. on it focuses to show your ships and the target. It could also move around your ship, zoom at the target or at some point move to the target and focus on you own ship adding a little zoom maybe. That way we'd have the screen filled wih a picture of 2 fighting ships...
I thought a lot about this when I watched "Clear Skies" the movie. There is that one scene where they go down onto a planet in a shuttle. That scene made me realize how much eve is missing because it has no cut scenes. Lets say we're we want to drop something at the POS. Warp, drop, Warp, dock... That's how basicly everything is done in eve. Wouldn't it be better if we had to actually dock at the corporate hangar array? Even if the process takes us 2-5 min. For these few minutes it would be cool to have a cut scene (cinematic views) of the hauler alligning sideways with the hangar and slowly appraching the docking platform. When CCP introduced the idea of having PI I was very excited too. I was hoping that like in "Clear Skies" we would be able to shuttle down onto a planet. And I don't mean moving around the planet surface. More like having a short scene of the shuttle going through the atmosfere on reentery glowing from heat. Once the reentery is over the camera shows a short flight in air and the next scene is from ground view. The camera is now focused on the landing shuttle (again add cool landing thruster effects) and in the backgroud we have the view of the command center. Once the landing process is over the game loads command center environment just like when you dock at the station.
Adding these short scenes like landing, docking in stations... in carriers... Oh, I forgot we can't dock in a carrier :P... entering planet orbit at 1/10 warpspeed going 60,000 km/h and having the cinematic camera show us some nice views would really break the pattern that is getting a little borring after 2 years of gameplay.
