Mr Epeen	Posted - 2010.09.09 23:37:00 - [1] For character names. I ran across a capsuleer the other day named BloodyDripping tampon. I felt that this name was somewhat inapropriate and petitioned. Petition was noted by a GM and closed. I still see this character as showing up in game. Either this is just the way it works or CCP is fine with this name flying around New Eden. So tell me, fellow forumites, have you seen any interesting named characters lately that are also apparently on CCPs aceptable list? I'm curious just how rude you have to get before you become Caldari citizen XXX. Mr Epeen

Oh wai- Yea I've seen some pretty bad names... never petitioned one, though. ninja-edit: Two that come to mind is Sex Trader or something, and Concord Protection, for impersonating an NPC. This is an adult game, with an M rating; there are swear words in some mission descriptions and other NPC dialog. The forum is a different matter because it's accessible publicly to kids who could come here by accident following a google search for something completely unrelated, so I understand the need for a forum profanity filter. But in-game there is simply no need. The name 'bloodydrippingtampon' isn't offensive at all, I can't imagine what there is to be offended about. There are 3,000,000,000 people in the world who experience the menstrual cycle in real life, and if you find references to it offensive, I think that's pretty offensive to all women. Are you disgusted by a vagina? By blood? What exactly is so horrific about being forced to read those words? I was petitioned once for a character who's name was 'Bacon Flaps', which is a pretty harmless euphemism for 'vagina'. I'm already self-censoring by using a euphimism, so what the hell are these intolerant jerkwads complaining about? I can't imagine what an empty, pointless life someone must lead to actually bother being offended by seeing a term that means 'vagina' in an m-rated game. Get a life. In the end, it's M-rated so anything that is OK in an M-rated film should be OK in Eve. I can't offhand think of anything sexual that is too profane for an M-rating, but I expect names that promote racism or violence against ethnic groups or religions would be out of bounds. So no, I don't think being 'rude' is going to get your name changed. Offensive is more related to hate speech. Also, grow up.
