Haven't seen anything posted on what type rats drop what tags, so I thought I'd post what I (think I) have figured out so far, since I've run into a few people hunting rat type X for a specific tag for an offer, when they should have been hunting rat type Y.
The bounty limits are only approximations. Trying to remember which can came from which of a dozen ships is iffy. Feel free to correct any errors or add details.
Frigates: Copper (up to ~5k), Bronze (up to ~14k), Silver (14.5+), Electrum (inty's)
Cruisers: Electrum (up to 45k?), Brass (45k+),Palladium (~75k+), Gold (110k+) - I get lots of electrum off the low end cruisers on lev 4 missions, but have no idea what the border between Brass-Electrum is
BS's: Platinum (?), Crystal (?), Diamond (?)

i got a true sansha's diamond from a 6mil commander and a true sansha's crystal from a 3mil commander
so i presume crystal comes from the worst bs and diamond from the best

Yes, and I think that the platinum are from 500k + BS's (haven't yet seen a Gurista BS under 500k), but have no idea what the cut off is for platinum-crystal

Yes, and I think that the platinum are from 500k + BS's (haven't yet seen a Gurista BS under 500k), but have no idea what the cut off is for platinum-crystal
