Nothing really. If you are in it you will just respawn when you log in again and warp back to that spot. If it's an empty ship it just respawns whever it was.

No if its empty it might still be there, but anyone has the right to steal it WITHOUT you having the ability to shoot back at anyone who stole it.
so don't leave ships unoccupied unless its a cap and can't dock, because someone with the skills can take it.

You know if someone has the skills to fly that cap they can still take it.
Personally if I saw a Nyx that was unoccupied I would hop in it in a heartbeat. Even a Thanatos would be nice. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Always ascertain the vintage of the first two.

Even if you can't fly it, you can still bump it out of the POS for your friend to fly away in it.
But to Pro Legion, your piloted ship will emergency warp about a million km away, then about 15 seconds to 15 minutes later will disappear from the game. When you log in again, your ship will reappear, you will be piloting the ship, and it will warp back from that location to where you were when you disconnected.
If there was nobody in the ship, the craft will behave like any piece of jetsam - it will just be there all the time.

Can someone clarify how long do unocuppied ships stay in space, if nobody removes them? There has been a CCP blog on containers/wrecks some time ago, I can't find it now but I don't think it talked about ships. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

Ships last forever, but I did once see CCP nuke thousands of leftover shuttles in Jita once to reduce lag (looked like someone set of a nuke in ships killed in last hour map ) Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie

Unpiloted shuttles and rookie ships not next to a celestial object get removed after some time. All else ships stay until someone scans them down and takes them.
