Never hear much about the Amarr command ships for level 4s whats the problem with them? I understand the Damnation has poor dps but what about the Abso?

It is the Harbi with Tech 2 Resists and the Prophecies Armour Bonus.
But they can be done in it!

the answer is simple: the Legion.
the CS are slow compared to the legion when using an afterburner. so that's saves you allot of time. but in all honesty when it comes to amarr doing L4s in high sec it's best to just use a battleship! the legion is ok, but it's not going to be like if you were doing L4s in a tengu. and even then you really should be in a CNR/Golem if you want to be fasest at doing L4s (caldari wise).
so i say it's best to use a BS to get through L4s fastest. if you can't stand being in a BS then get the legion for more fun factor or cross over to tengu if you want the best of T3 for this.

I ended up using abso for mission after a careless loss of my raven. It definatly can complete all lvl4 I was issued. The range is subpar, I used microwave faction crystals and got like 25k. The tank is solid. With the 2 cap implants from using my raven it was stable with lasers and 1 rep, and even adding afterburner or second rep it held cap for a very long time.
The downs are range, damage type limitations although thermal is common second best damage, and it is pretty sloow
Ups are tank, ammo, tracking, no defender missile against you.
It can do missions but I wouldn't buy one for them. Better off with abaddon or something with range.

lvl 4 in amarr = Nightmare or Paladin imo For pwnage that is
To answer OP i would say that yes it is quite doable, but not optimal in any way.

As already mentioned, it's slow and has a range too short for comfortable lvl 4, and the mayor pain in the ass is being tracking disrupted and/or neuted, which will occur ever so often in missions against rats weak against lasers.
It's simply not worth the effort for the result, when there are other ways.

The reason I ask is I have recently began training for Amarr lasers ect. I already have the skill to fly the Nighthawk have all the necesary skills for the Abso. Only thing im lacking is the actual skill for the T2 lasers. Medium energy 5 is almost done now and im iching to try somthing out its going to be quite a long wait untill the Large T2 laser skill is ready but was thinking of trying out the abso soon as the T2 medium skill comes out the oven.
If I did fly one should I use Beams or Pulse with scorch?

Full gank abso with pulses (imperial multi // scorch) will work decent in missions that don't require lots of mobility and range.
For example Damsel in Distress. ----------------- aspiring carebear |

I would try to steer you into that Nighthawk. Thats a beast for missions. But if you insist on the Abso, pulse lasers w/ I-Navy Microwave. You can hit targets out to 30k, and keep I-Navy Multi in cargo so when you can close you can shred harder.

Well if I was to go back to caldari ships I would dust off the CNR but like I said I am currently training lasers so fancy a change. What makes the Nighthawk stand out any more than the Abso? All I can see is the range and the ability to change the flavour of your missiles but then you lose the kenetic bonus
Im not one for number crunching how does the dps compare between the NH and the Abso?

I made a wicked Abso fit for when I can fly one... but it won't be for doing missions... it will be for killing the annoying mission runners.

Abso leaves alot to be desired, you are much better off in an apoc.

Switch hardeners per mission and to a microwarpdrive whenever you can.
Was it faster then my abaddon? No, but it was a hell of a lot more fun.
INMF range = ~25km @ 500 gun DPS
Aurora M Range = farther than you can lock @ 300 dps (good for one shotting far approaching frigates quickly).
I only stopped using this when I got a paladin, and I used to fly it in tandom with an orca that had a PvP fit Zealot and a salvage destroyer inside.

Since the cap drain of armor hardeners doesnt affect a BS as much as a CS, I'd recomend going with a BS instead.
I use an absolution fitted with heavy pulse IIs it's slow killer.
My fit though, is resistance plating (to be cap stable) still working on hull upgrades V.
I have to use far too many cap rechargers and rig slots just to keep cap stable.
I use 2 armor repairers, a MWD instead of a AB and the Tech II drones do terrible damage. I'm still learning thankfully I have a BS fitted and waiting in a hangar and I'll probably be repackaging my absolution and selling it. It's just a bad ship.
Sadly I'll have to train small/heavy/large beam specialization and large beams to 5 as well as BS to 5 to get what I want.
another 2 months or so of training I suppose but in the end it was a far better choice.

Why are you so interested in being cap stable?
The fit I linked above lasts 5 minutes and 44s with my skills. And that's if you never turn the guns off ever which doesn't happen. Essentially it IS cap stable, and if you're really hurting on cap all you have to do is turn off two guns.
I'm not really sure why the range is even an issues, a BS without a AB moves at only 100 m/s while the absolutions cruising along at 434. Honestly, range has never been an issue for me when I was using beams and multifrequency but I mission in Gallente space so maybe its different elsewhere.

Everything melts under 10 km. (imperial multi).. Good DPS @30km with scorch. Some mobility with AB...
Better suited for lvl 3s but can so some lvl 4s with some degree of efficency..
