Yeah, I found a similar setup for an Apoc like that:
8x Mega Modulated Beams
1x Quad Lif MWD 1x Sensor Booster II 2x Tracking Computer II
1x Reactor Control II 6x Heat Sink II
A bit risky for NPC'ing with no reps or anti-frig weapons, but does great damage.
Too lazy to get my sig changed |

pff - any geddon can get 150km... my apoc can hit at 180km and i am crap at fittings... all i do is fit 2-3 sensor boosters and 7 tracking enhancer IIs it beats any setup iv read... so all sm1 has to do is fit 8X tracking enhancer IIs and 3 sensor boosters - on my setup iv just used tachs tho. |

The best setup that i've found and tested;
High Slots 5x Tachyon Beam Lasers w\ Radio and Multi 2x Medium Pulse Lasers w\ Radio 1x Large Smartbomb
Mid Slots 2x Sensor Boosters 1x Tracking Computer
Low Slots 3x Tracking Enhancer II's 3x Heat Sink II's 2x LADAR Backup II's
This setup, from my experience, is extremely effective. The Tach's optimals are ~130km with Radio, tho obviously dependant on named modules\skills. My Tachs have a 7x dmg mod with a 5.05 sec rof, which is a better DOT than a sniping tempest. The Medium Pulse (and the smartbomb, tho to a lesser extent) are extremely useful also if any Frigs manage to get close (they hit well with 3 dmg mods and 3 tracking ). And the backups have proved extremely worthy having them fitted.
Hope that helps ..

Edited by: Clydar Dramos on 02/04/2005 14:00:53 Just curious - as the enemy gets closer, at what range do you have to change crystals? I.e. how close are Radios still effective?

How do you cap tank all this? I've been trying out a similar version of alowishus' setup. Is very nice to hit at over 100km. BTW. Multifreqs do rediculous damage to ships in range, think almost double of what the radios do. Also, wouldnt it be better to have like AB or something? I figure you would want to keep the range. Word, thanks for this post... has helped me out a lot! cheers,

5x tachs(gamma, xray, microwave) 2x med beam lasers (radio)
2x trac computers 2 1x sensor booser 2
1x med armor repairer 2 1x cap relay 6x heatsink 2
Having recently come up with this setup, i am damn proud of it . The choice of crystals is odd to most, but its like that only to increase dmg as much as possible while keeping to max targetting range (not over doing it like with radios). Having the xray crystals is for medium range (just incase) and is there to once again, maximize dmg output. I use gamme only because i like the tad bit more optimal. Med beams keep the pesky frigs oppressed nicely
Mentioned items in midslot do great work to increase optimal and range. I can lock targets at 124km, i can get it just past 130 once i train a skill a bit more.
The lows slots were a little tricky. Since i am very cautious and pvp (also npc) is dangerous, some protection was needed for flexibility, so i put on a med armor rep. It fixes nicely and takes little to fit. The 6 heatsink 2's obviously increase the dmg output. The cap relay is only on there to better blance out the cap loss when running the mods and recharge once the guns have stopped firing. |

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Amarr ships use RADAR targeting? Wouldn't a RADAR Backup Array II be more useful?

Alowishus-
For a strong NPC setup you would do better with a sniper-poc (Adv weapon upgrades 4, eng 5)
8x Megamodulated 1x Sensorbooser II 3x Tracking Comp II 1x Med Rep II 6x HS II

My sniper geddon setup is simple
5 tachyons
2 sensor boosters t2 1 named tracking comp
7 tracking enhancer t2 and 1 heat sink t2
With radio i get about 161km optimal range i think ive not used that setup in a while..... also have a locking range of 172km ---- Proppa sniper geddon if i had t2 tachs

its easy to shoot from over 200k nowadays and hit 400+ dmg hits per gun and yes i use a geddon for that.

havent used a ged for sniping for a while. but when i do i use
7x t2 tach 2x sensor boosters 1x tracking comp t2 3x dmg mods t2 3x tracking enhancert2 2x rcu t2
decent damage. good tracking. good range. relatively cheap since the ship is cheaper. but u really dont wanna loose those t2 guns when in a sniperged i make sure that i pop those harpys/enyos/cepters/destroyers first since tracking tends to be better then the tempests and megas in the group and EM rapes caldari and galante AFs/hacs
yes people will complan about 2 fitting mods but before you do. this does 18.196% more DPS then a sniperthron. 15.7% more tracking then a sniperthron: 9% less range: nd is tier 1 so its cheaper.
[note: comparision made to a mega with 7x t2 425s. 2 sensor boosters. 2 trakcing comps. 1 tracking enhancer. 3 dmg mods. 3 unhonourable wcs][all max skills]

Are u guys really play Eve? or just use u character-progs ? :)
7x Tachyons with no recharges or batteries (800) - it about 1min of shooting :) (and of couse it needs 2 or more RCU T2 units even with super skills)
So use 5x Tachyons, 2x SensorBoosters 1xTC T2 3TE T2, 3HS T2, 1Large Accomodation and something u need in different situation....

Quickfit's cap simulation comes out at just under 150 seconds before your cap dies with no cap boosting modules fitted. 1 medium elec cap booster with 800 charges will run them for as long as you have charges to load into it (cap stabalizes at about 60%-70%).
Tachyon II x 7 w/ gleam Medium Diminishing Nos or something else that uses similar cpu
Medium Elec Cap Booster w/ 800s Sensor Booster II x 3
Tracking Computer II x 3 RCU II x 2 Heatsink II x 3
200km lock range, 185 optimal, 25km falloff.

I can hit hard to 200km in an arma. With someone boosting me I can hit hard all the way out to 249 (max lock range).
For ratting I use megabeams with standard crystals (75k optimal).
