I'll bite.
Yes but it's harder than haulers (obviously) so you'll probably be fine if you stick to hisec. Usually.
Only downside is if you sit there for two hours, and you have exxy stuff inside, then someone will probably notice and then might be motivated enough to do something about it. But you do have to throw a fair whack of firepower at a freighter to get it down before Concord comes knocking.

you are safe if the value from cargo is under 2-3 bil , to gank a freighter you need like 15 pilots and they spend around 300-400 mil isk to kill you, and the reward should be at least 200-300 mil for each. Taking in consideration that half of the loot can be destroyed I can even say that under 5 bil loot in cargo you are safe .

OP yeah freighters get ganked. It takes organization and it's not as common or easy as random idiots in ravens nailing industrials.
One team hits, and if they dont kill it the damned things are so slow they have time to reship after 15m or get another team in to finish it off it's pretty easy for a scout to follow it the 3 jumps or so it makes in that time.
Often it's on auto and pilot is afk with no idea whats going on.

You missed out on the 5 loki hulls but got to keep all the subsystems??!! Did you make any isk out of this?

suicide ganking is a matter of math. If it more profitable to kill you and loot you than than the cost of their ships for the gank, they will do so.
That simple.
The magic point of profit is when the freighter has just over 1 bil isk in cargo. (that is why currier companies like Red Frog have a maximum collateral of 1 bil isk)
Thus, if you keep the value of your cargo to 1 bil isk or less, it is extremely unlikely you will be suicided. If you are, it was personal and not an attempt at your goods.

according to BC on that KM it dropped 6 bil isk, so yeah I'd guess they made about 5 bil isk on it.

Smart freighter pilots warp to 0 and NEVER autopilot
Smarter freighter pilots have an alt in the same corp to web them
Smart freighter pilots who survive an attack don't keep going on their journey, they dock and log off for a couple of hours min

Do not haul anything that is more worth than 20 battleships, because this is what gankers need to pop a freighter. When you undock from Jita 4-4 will you find a moon dead ahead. You can warp instantly to the moon and get quicker out of Jita. If you haul often valuable stuff with your freighter then you will likely get war-decced by one-man corps, aka warts. If you fly past gankers then they might join these war-deccing one-man corps to attack you instantly. Same happens when you use courier contracts with your freighter and move containers or ships with it. They cannot scan the content (because of a container being in another container) and will assume that you are hauling valuable stuff.
