If someone could lend me a hand with a question.. I have a valuable basically irreplaceable bpo and my corp has requested some copies of the bpo..Well i don't have too much of a problem with that of course but what i'm curious about is if i use a lab in the station that my corp hq is at do i need to worry about using the lab and having a director/ceo scalp the bpo out of the lab? Is there any scenario like this i need to worry about? I'll obviously post with an alt so no one gets too embarrased aby this question.. Namely me.

Simple enough, just use a personal lab, then you have nothing to worry about...your corp-mates will not have access to the BPO (or the BPC, until you give it to them) or the lab. ------------------- |

Appreciate the reply after so many looks :) however i lost my lab spaces after i took off for a month.. unexpected medical .. so the nut and bolts of this situation is as follows: director offered me a lab spot to make copies of a t2 ship . I certainly don't have a problem with that as i'm not currently producing them. He offered me a lab space which happens to be at our corp hq. He unrented the lab space and I grabbed it up.. i answered NO to the first question whatever it was and yes to the next 2 questions.. now i've played this game long enough to know that the "uneducated" tend to get the long shaft of scams or potential scams.. the whole doors keep honest people honest thing. What i'd really like to know is if this person has access to the lab with the qualifications i gave above.. I've payed for the lab and the bill.. and it said something about using my personal hanger instead of the corp hanger.. but i'm really, really trying to be sure about this .. I'd very much appreciate it if someone who has good knowledge about this kind of situation could give me some heads up on it.. right now i've got a shuttle bpo in the lab.. just to be on the safe side.. Someone be a hero and set me straight on this..

----------------------------------------------------------If the lab was unrented so you can rent it then its safe for you to use. Its your labspot ----------------------------------------------------------- Actually the first question when i answered yes to it said it denied me rights since i din't have access to the labspot and couldn't rent it.. But this reply is actual helpful . I had a popup or something that said that "i don't have rights" to access the lab. So .. am i to assume then it's no longer a corp labslot and my own now? If so then why did it reply to me saying something along the lines of "your personal hanger will be used instead of corp hanger" .. Which leads me the the real crux of the issue.. Is this popup standard with labs when you have corp hanger there or is there something which will give access rights to the hanger by the corp.. i've tried to search for relevant threads to no avail and i'm probably overdoing this whole thing.. But if i get scammed out of this thing i'll bust my head thru my head thru my monitor screen trying to find it.... I don't need another headache ;)

You Only get that no access right if you try renting a lab for the corp and do not have the "can rent lab" rights.
It does not stop you from renting a lab for yourself, when the first question pops dosaying do you want to use the corp hanger, by clicking yes you are trying to rent a lab on behalf of the corp, by clicking no, you are trying to rent a lab yourself.
If you place your BPO in a corp slot, there is Nothing stopping any director from taking it, or any other member with the correct access rights

Edited by: Easi Mula on 30/12/2004 12:05:31 Thank you for your help Mari Y'Tuk. I really appreciate the reply and that was very helpful. I can assume then by answering "no" to the first question then that the lab is mine and that i'm the only one with access to the lab since i've rented it to myself.. This wouldn't even be an issue if this bpo wasn't the most valuable item i own.. thanks a ton Heh.. silly me posting with my main

The short answer to your query with the circumstances you've described, is that your BPO is safely in your hands and not accessible to anyone else.
The longer answer is that when renting a Factory or Lab at any station where your corp has an office, you are able (if you have the permissions to do so, or are director/CEO) to rent the slot in the name of the corp instead of your own. The differences are that in the corps name, the bills are paid by it, not you. Anyone with factory manager/director role or the CEO can view or cancel the job, and BPs/resources come from the corp hangar. For your own slot, you pay the bills, and the BPs/minerals are input from/output to your own hangar. BPCs from a personal lab slot are output to your hangar also.
The two questions you are asked are: - Do you wish to use the corporation hangar? Answer yes (if you have permissions) and it uses corp hangar. Answer no and it is your personal slot:
- Do you wish to rent this slot? No leaves it unrented. If you answered "Yes" above and "Yes" to this, it takes payment from corp wallet and will display "Rented to <corpname>", If you answered "No" first, and "Yes" second it displays "Rented to Goddess Nemesis" and everything to do with it is yours alone.

Having donated a private labslot in one of our corp offices to the corp I recognise the difference now. KingsGambit has it right in that the labslot you can see will say rented to you if it's private, or rented to the corp if it's corp property. Another way to tell is to look in your wallet at your accounts and see where you have factories or labslots. That'll confirm that's a private slot.
I think you're wise to double check things.

Thanks for all the posts and the excellent information.. This is the first time i've used the forums to field a question like this and i have to say the information is very valuable to have.. I read the forums all the time but like my "privacy" but after getting bad information about a zet1000 implant offer i had in the trade channel i decided that the "forum gurus" would be more appropriate to get a good answer on this instead of arbitrarily asking in help/trade channels ingame.. Heh it seems that you guys are the ones to ask if you *really* need to know the right answer. Thanks a bunch
