In other words, how many times have you died and been resurrected from the clone vats...how many iterations removed from your original natural born body?

That's true, in which case I've already departed my natural shell.
I suppose this is an embarrassing question that no one is gonna answer. Probably 2-6 for most people, I'd bet. ================================= Original EVE Machinima.

10 times podded in total for 4 years of playing, but I use jump clones quite a lot. Source: http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=298754
Now that you mentioned it, I'm starting to wonder why don't I have +4 implants in my active clone. I thought that I've been podded at least 20 times by now, but apparently I was wrong.

I would imagine, in a pure storyline/RP context, within the EVE galaxy there would be people who are like a lineage, or a business. Celebrity superstars who are household names, and have their iteration number in their name, like Louis XI, JimBob 23 or something. Their face would be on kid's lunchboxes, cereal boxes etc. ================================= Original EVE Machinima.

Yeahà the whole jumpclone thing kind of makes it tricky to count.
The clone I've abused the most probably has been back to the vats 7û8 times (from both poddings and travel suicides); the one I've taken the most care of is still fresh as new; the othersà somewhere inbetween. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I've only been podded once as a clueless newb. I've somehow escaped it since (even when my pod gets caught in bubbles I tend to make it out somehow).
I've JC'd many times though if we're counting that

I enjoy watching ships pass through a gate in my pod, it is almost an addiction.
I got help after I lost my Mission Job and moved to Rancer(Lo Rent).
So to answer your question about what number Clone this is.
F*ck Rancer!

So, 65th generation.
Note: Lost skills 4 or 5 times. Not as bad as people make it out to be after a certain point. You sort of lose all sense of direction with skills and find yourself training up weird stuff you'll never use.

For the same of argument, let's say my 'original body' is the one I started the game with, floating in space on the noob ship.
On my main, even though I have been podded and CJ several times, I've never lost my 'original body'.

So in terms of storyline/RP, when you clone jump your consciousness is quantum mechanically and instantly beamed to your jump clone somehow.
Does the same event happen the instant you are podded, or is your new clone a separate entity with the same memories, skills, personality etc? ================================= Original EVE Machinima.

Something like 3-5 times, on my main.
This particular character has yet to be killed, and i do travel around from time to time in "The Intrepid", my science vessel. Most recently i was hoping to study the behavior of wild goon when there was talk of them attacking the cemetary, but nary a one was to be found whenever i searched.

I don't think jumping to a different clone really counts. The clones you jump between are stored in a vat and wait for you to return. They aren't new clones because you still keep all your implants. So, if you clone jump from your original body and then return to it later, it's not really a new generation.

Well if you buy the fancy clones made from dead people you are still a real human too. It's just the crappy cheap ones that leave you wanting to roll around in the mud like a piggy for no apparent reason.
My jumpclone counter is at like 15 maybe. I've been podded like 10 times I think and my poor self realizing he is done for as I spend 5600 + med clone and take the pod express to 0.0 from the other side of the galaxy to get a skill or something thats a one way object or something for my research tower that only the main knows how to do is prolly triple digits by itself. I stopped doing that now that my clones cost like 16 million isk for a round trip now. I can make it there easier with the carrier jumping me to low and running a shuttle though emp.

Definitely worth having at least a pair of +4s in as I average about 1 pod loss every 2 months these days.

Edited by: GreenYoshi on 16/09/2010 15:41:42 Looks like I've lost 14 pods in combat, over the two and a half years that I've been playing. Since I've never self-destructed my capsule, that's about an accurate count as you're going to get. If you really want to count jump clones (weird, since nothing here is dying), I have no idea. I usually jump clone minimum once per week, and usually once every couple of days. Since I'm very obsessive about skills, I've never lost skillpoints due to not having an upgraded clone.

Oops, soory. Looks like that one's my fault (http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x107/Brexer/Screenshot.png). Glad you didn't lose any skillpoints over it. Thought I recognized your corpse's name.
