Edited by: Kephael on 15/09/2010 19:26:50 I was curious what ship setup is considered optimal for dual boxing The Maze. I imagine it would involve a rattlesnake.

I don't think you can get a Rattler to tank the citadel torpedo at the end, as it deals 180000 EM damage every 30 seconds and the rattlesnake's battleship-sized signature radius will make impossible to tank. Also the station that launches said torpedos fires unusually powerful defender missiles and it fires them very often, so the rattler might have trouble breaking the tank on the station.
You could probably do it with a very well-fit Tengu (possibly with HAMs for more DPS) and a logistics ship. Maybe. ________________

I thought the torpedo fired did not take in to account signature radius.

though a battleship can tank it with a logistic if it has high enough em resists, with about 90-93% em resists on my abaddon last time I used it in one, It maybe did 3-5k volly or was it slightly higher? can't remember now, but on my phobos, it only does like 70-350 volly

it does indeed take sig into account,
a tengu is the only ship ive seen that can tank it solo, needs two be active fit to cut down on sig.
dual tengu can run the maze in less than an hour

Dual tengus seems reasonable, what sort of fit are we looking at?

What about a carrier tanking the damage... and have x2 tengus?

You cannot bring caps into the Maze, or I would sit in my T3 and Chimera all day Maze after Maze

Can you get a fast, small ship in, wait for the torpedo to fire, and warp out before it hits you? Or just get an ibis to take the blast, if you also get instascrammed? The 30 seconds should be enough to blow up the battery with focused fire, right? ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

It's a standard (citadel) torp and can be sig/speed-tanked in the usual wayà
àit's just that the structure is also plastered with 50km-range webbing towers, so unless you have that low-signature component to put a cap on the damage, you'll need a big honking plug to put into your EM hole. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

The thing about the maze is that the citadel torp is constantly being fired at you. Its not just one. Ive been successful with an ishtar and guardian:
[Ishtar, The Maze] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Armor EM Hardener II Armor EM Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Medium Armor Repairer II
10MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Drone Navigation Computer I
Prototype Cloaking Device I Drone Link Augmentor I Salvager I 75mm Prototype I Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S [empty high slot]
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Wasp II x5 Warden II x5 Hornet II x5
You need the buffer for the torp, because right as you warp in it will be hitting you hard. Immediately turn on the local rep. Your hardeners should already be on. Your guardian should be in warp as soon as you start landing on grid, otherwise it wont make it in time to start repping you. Your initial speed tank will be **** because of all the webbing. Just burn away from the outpost til the guardian shows up, and then just orbit him. You should be able to tank this no problem this way.

Edited by: Matarella on 16/09/2010 20:28:06 Proteus to tank it (yes he can solo tank it all). and a heavy DPS ship that had a medium tank (one that can take damage from something like a haven). new spawns are not bound to target the proteus.
msg me ingame. I am not going to make my fit public.
just so you know. I have lost 3x proteus to get to this fit. and it now takes the plex easily
