except for the chinese, they have theyre own
I was just wondering why the chinese have a seperate server? I always thought that one of CCP's unique selling points was that EVE did not have multible servers as other (craplike) mmo's have.
So why is it there? (to stop the spread of isk (bot)farming into our eve, or because they are inferior?) And will it ever cross paths with us due to different realities colliding with one another?

It has to do with government regulations, apparently. Chinese people also aren't allowed to use Facebook, but that doesn't mean they don't. We probably have some people playing from China on this server too.
The government should really just stop trying already.

Because the Chinese government basically said for anyone playing eve there it would need to change the game content to fit its strict internet laws. The only way forwards was for an edited game world setting solely for China. I believe there's loopholes allowing it if your not from there though.

"Communism is a sociopolitical movement that aims for a classless society structured upon communal ownership of the means of production and the end of wage labour and private property"

I wonder what the alliance landscape would look like if we had a bunch of Chinese running around on TQ. I expect they would have at least a couple of powerful alliances.

read that properly, means of production - the people, end of wage labour - people are not paid and are not granted property. Communal can only result in centralized after several time periods. Class less society is a step back to slave holding society... where slaves are formed by the population. (In the past slaves were obtained in tribal/inferior nations)

Edited by: Mr Kidd on 19/09/2010 17:04:30 It's moot. We're all slaves to some extent. There are differences from country to country, certainly, but noone can live on this planet free from a "government". Hence, noone is free from taxation. If one were to live a subsistence life free from the trappings of modern life one must still own or rent property to do so. One either pays taxes on the land that is owned or pays a landlord for usage of the land. And that demands one to work in order to pay for the tax or the usage. This leads to commerce which is of course taxed forcing one to work even harder.
Even if one were to live free of government such independence does not come without required effort such as defense, acquisition of resources, requirement of shelter, etc, etc, etc. So even then one is not free.
Freedom is a myth, slavery is relative.

Some of the posters were equating communism to slavery. I was only expounding on slavery. To expound more, even for those of us that live in a capitalistic and democratic society we still live in a well controlled and structured society. If one thinks of government as the kingdom and corporations as fiefdoms, society really hasn't evolved all that much in the past +1000 years. Only the names have changed.
