I never thought I'd ever fly a Falcon, but since I started last week, I've already be given 2 free battle ships, from pilots whom apparently couldn't stand being jammed and chose to eject.
I should have got one earlier..

Oh grow a pair, you guys, the link is perfectly safe.
Okay now, about the article- It was extremely useful for me! I've actually been wondering what are the sort of builds I want to be working with for an ECM ship, and this article solved many, many questions. Thanks for the good read. o7

I'm glad you've been able to take something from it. Although I will preface that you might want to have a MWD on all your ships if you live in nullsec. Otherwise I find my fits extremely effective for low sec combat.

You will feel dirty and cheap at first. But like a 5 dollar hooker, you'll keep doing it because it's an honest living and you can get completely wasted on your job.

I've never flown the ship but I'd probably fit them like this:
[Sentinel, Baby Curse] Damage Control II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Micro 'Vigor' I Core Augmentation
1MN Afterburner II Small Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 200 Tracking Disruptor II, Optimal Range Disruption Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
5W Infectious Power System Malfunction 5W Infectious Power System Malfunction Small Nosferatu II
Small Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer I Small Core Defence Field Extender I
Warrior II x4 Acolyte TD-300 x4 Hornet EC-300 x4
This fit will allow you to keep range on your target. Assuming it's tackled because you're in a gang ship. Orbit around 14 km so you can drift out of web range if they overheat. The curse setup is also cap stable BEFORE the booster which is there for backup.
Plus if drones are eating you up you, can burn out of point range and bugger off. The warriors are more for self defense to get rid of drones if you can take the damage. Otherwise use TD for turret ships and ECM for missile boats.

Thanks a lot, that looks pretty good! Really want to try out a sentinel and be a complete pain in the ass. |

Edited by: moranno on 22/09/2010 15:45:15 Ewar frigs- great lil ships, flying coffins tho and hard to fly, miss 1 cycle and u are dead no matter what, that if u manage to get a cycle going in the first place before popping. Your Rook setup is totally wrong, totally.Thats not how u fly it, 2 LSE and a complete rack of racial jammers is all u need, with DC2 and signal amps in the lows, plus the jamming strenght rigs.Oh and the mwd, that goes without saying. I fly myself abit different tho, with 4 dread guristas multispecs. It jams everything everywhere permanently. The rook is actually the only viable solo caldari ship. Absolutely love it. Never liked Falcon, but thats because i like to shoot people and blow things up not just jam, but thats just me.

This is my favorite Kitsune, if you know what race you are going to see then the racial jammers are better but I never know. It can cloak, its very fast, cap stable, and has drone/interceptor defense. Should operate at around 45 km from its target, puts it well within optimal and outside of almost any point or web. You can increase the range but to do so you need to take away mods that give Jam strength and mids taking away cap and jammers to fit a sensor booster, with this fit Optimal is just slightly more than targeting range 52.5km targeting and 53km optimal. You can add a fractional amount more Jam strength if you dump your missile defense, the power core and add another distortion amp. Finally if you are working in a gang and not concerned about constantly mwd'ing then you can dump the Cap Recharger for a 4th Jammer gives you 2mins 45 secs of MWD time with all jammers running. Actually if you aren't worried about speed use a after burner dump the cap recaharger and add the extra jammer it all runs cap stable but your speed drops from 2677 ms to 969 ms, which isn't bad at all.

Despite the link having been removed, those were pretty decent fits with the exception of the Rook and the fleet Scorpion. The Rook didn't have enough ECM, but I don't really fly them enough to say more than that with any certainty. The Scorpion, on the other hand, was just wrong.
Either fully armor tank a Scorpion (DC2, EANM/Plating mix, armor rigs) or go fully ECM. Mixing the two usually doesn't end well--if someone's firing at you if you're in the full ECM Scorp loadout, you're doing it wrong, and if you're half-armor fit you won't last long enough because you are guaranteed to be the primary at some point (usually fairly early in the fight).
Of course, there is also the uber-passive-tanked Surprise Scorpion that FCs primary and then discover they can't kill. I like those. Slight downside of being virtually useless other than as meatshields with a little DPS though.
-- CCP recently changed SiSi to allow PLEXes to buy neural remaps. Simultaneously, they also released their plans on how to best lose as many subscribers as possible. |

I believe you mean ONE shield extender as there is not enough grid or slots for your setup above. First of all, maxed skill and everything running gives you 1m19s worth of cap assuming you started the fight at full cap. Since you have no web or scramble you're going to have to keep your MWD burning. And with your staggering 265 DPS, it'll take you a while to take down your target.
If you drop the Invuln for a 3rd jammer, you can fit HAMs which would be the only real option for being within point range. With the boosters and robust cargo bay you can keep your cap running for over 7 minutes with everything going. DG Jammers aren't worth the steep capacitor cost or ISK for a solo, point range ship with meager tank, mediocre speed, and instant primary credentials.
My point is that the rook isn't worth flying because it can do a lot of things, but nowhere near as useful as the falcon. If you want DPS, go for the drake which is an excellent solo or gang ship. If you want jams go for the falcon because you have the element of surprise, probes, and more jammers. Why telegraph what your gang has and provide a ship that is trying to do two things but, neither well?

That is an awful fit man. You don't need to sacrifice a low for a maxiumum of 25 DPS and you don't need to sacrifice a mid to be cap stable. You also don't need a cloaking device because you have a lock on delay and half your scan resolution. You also have a short targeting range that is gonna get you awfully close to a lot of drones.
My fit can jam more ships, operate 30km farther than yours, and can salvage T2 ships after the fight.

There are a number of fits I like. The bait/primary one being a favorite. My fit allows for good flexibility across the ENTIRE battlefield if needed while having enough tank to take a few blows. In low sec there aren't a whole lot of snipers like 0.0, so dispensing jams at 100km from the epicenter with 50k EHP is plenty of protection.
I prefer not to use the Scorpion for the same reasons of not liking the Rook. Mediocre damage potential and no surprise factor and depending on fits, weaker jammers or less of them. Never underestimate the power of scouting, positioning, and probing cloaked. Set up a flight of probes 0.5 AU from the fight. When your targets land you can scan and get warp ins. Gang warp, dead ship.
