it does indeed look rather nice, and myself, someone who mostly dislikes turn based strategy, considered getting it for a bit.

I still play the very first civ using dosbox and could never find a reason to get any of the sequals as they all kept adding in useless micromanagement like it was a legit game mechanic. But this one looks to have mostly killed off the major micro annoyances so maybe when it eventually goes on sale on steam I might pick it up. But certainly not for full retail as I'm done lining pockets with that greedy business model. ZOMG!!! |

I'm staring at the preloaded steam game right now.
It's mocking me with it's late European release date :(

As soon as Friday hits I am going to have a major decline in my social life. The little figures that come with the collector's edition will be handy for my Mordheim war-bands as well.

I've pre-ordered it and can't wait for it to arrive; I shall be lying in wait for the postman Friday morning. I've even dowloaded the manual from the offical site so I don't have to waste the customary half an hour sending my legs to sleep reading it on the toilet whilst the game installs on the PC.
F1 2010 is also released the same day, so that'll be me not leaving the house for two weeks and looking for the best racing line on the way to my local ASDA when I am finally forced to surface or starve... although I am buying in extra supplies of Red Bull, Pro-Plus and Rizlas to delay this awful moment as long as is (in)humanly possible.
Once more into the breach dear friends.

The demo does have a DX9 option so I'd be surprised if you needed DX10 for the full game.
Edit: I'm not terribly impressed by the demo actually, Civ4 has a nicer UI but Civ5 seems to be very different and at least more informative about all the upgrades, abilities etc. (major difference: no unit stacks).
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

I should clarify. DX is not a problem. My video card only has 128 MB of RAM, the minimum requirements on that page say 256 MB. What is world coming too!

I've reinstalled Civ 3 as well and I seem to remember thinking Civ 4 was the dogs bollox but I'm loving Civ 3 a lot more, and if I'm brutally honest Europa Universalis 3 has weaned me off Civ to the point where Civ 5 isn't going to be bought until its a bargain bucket item.

Demo was pretty interesting. Seems like a total shakeup of the combat system and a great deal of changes to growth (buying tiles, can't really find buildings that help income etc).
Now I just need to sit outside in my boxer shorts for a few hours so I can be sick from work tomorrow.
This plan cannot backfire. It's perfect.

Except that your boss knows your plan now. And might attack you with blankets before you have a chance to get sick.
