Ok so I just was doing a ton of lvl 3 missions cause I thought thats what I was doing when I left off, and then my friend rejoins eve and tells me we were doing 4s, so now I need to know what ship/fitting I should use for lvl 4s flying gallente ships, drone boat really. Anyone have any solid links or fittings they would share? |

If you want a drone boat, you should look into the dominix. What do you get when you cross an owl and a bungee cord? |

Usually the Dominix with the new 2-3 Drone Damage Modules and 2-3 Drone Tracking Comps using Sentry Drones with Hobgoblins for Frigates. Armor Tanked for Stability and Shield for Damage.

or you cound fly a real ship and use a proteus, or a megathron hull ship. realistically there arent any gallente ships i would call good at PVE.
proteus is by far the most fun and CAN be used effectively, contrary to popular belief. note that if you put rails on it, i will find you and hurt you. |

Before pasting setups...
Do you have T2 large rails? T2 heavies and/or sentries? What is your AWU level?
Jack Miton wrote:proteus is by far the most fun and CAN be used effectively, contrary to popular belief. Effectively? Does that mean as effectively as a Navy Dominix/Vindicator/Kronos?
Because I'd love to see a missioning Proteus setup that isn't either crippled by lack of DPS or by having to MWD up each individual rat's nose before applying damage. No sarcasm. I've honestly never been able to put one together. |

I am 90% sure I can use T2 rails, I can use pretty much ANY drone as well, I have the skills for most builds, just looking for an easy mode drone boat build |

I'd say give the Kronos a try if you mission in serpentis or guristas space. You could get a megathron at first to get a feel for it, but the tank will not be nearly as strong. The dominix is a decent boat in any portion of space really, though I find them to be a bit boring to use.
You could also give the ishtar a go, fit it for some exploration whenever you are burnt out on missions \o/

This is your template for a basic armor gank domi. If you still need actual setups I'll dig some out when at the right computer. Investing in a IN/DB/TS/Khanid LAR will make both fitting and tanking much easier. |

Ishtar is only matched by the Tengu in exploration, easily tied for the best PVE ship in game. Dominix is great for L4 missions, if people really want to waste their sub on such a thing.
I do have a swiss army PVE Proteus... that uses drones and now rails :D I started with blasters, like any sane person would do because ~medium rails~, but when I actually tested rails on sleepers, they worked much better than blasters.

last time i was stuck in HS for a stretch i got very, VERY bored and decided to run some missions in my buffer fit PVP proteus with a med rep thrown in for good measure. it was in no way optimized for PVE, hell i didnt even bother taking the scram off, and while yes, slower than my very old missioning tengu (it's been docked for years) i was getting bounty ticks that were not all that much smaller than what i remember the tengu getting.
ive also used the same proteus for WH PVE and it works great. it does actually require the pilot to not be a mindless drone like most mission runners and actively pilot tho.
im quite comfortable saying that you can fit out a 6 blaster, MWD proteus that is on par with a lot of other missioning ships. certainly junk like domis... |

Domi though can nowadays spit out 1200 dps at 40 km or so, which is what I call PVE.
Confirming that the Tengu is god-like.
Legion with T2 Pulses and Scorch...? Not saying it's as good as a Tengu, but it's certainly not bad at PVE. Plus it's sexy. Neut Legion is nice for PVP as well.
Loki is the jack-of-all-trades, master of none T3. It can do anything, just not as well as a different given T3.
The Proteus' place is tank-n-spank PVP. It is also the best cloaky T3 IMO, as it is less gimped by fitting a cloak than most T3s. It also has awesome point range. And please, dear lord, don't use it in PVE. |

Since I don't really care much for dear lords, would you enlighten us why we shouldn't use it for PVE?
Proteus does an active tank second to none, and outdamages a Legion at all ranges, while keeping two utility hi slots. Shiva Furnace - now recruiting solid pilots! |

Still no Domi fits out? I'll paste some.
Here's one if your return has left your skills rusty and your wallet thin: [Dominix, Poor bastard]
Large Armor Repairer II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II Omnidirectional Tracking Link II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L Drone Link Augmentor II
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Garde II x5
Deals just over 900 dps, most of it in drones. Is not cap stable, but it should be enough. At least enough to GTFO if everything goes to hell. It won't like tanking Angels and their explosive damage. Upgrading the LAR to a faction version will allow you to fit that last gun.
If you're not broke, here's one that I flew the last time I did missions (only now with DDAs instead of magstabs):
[Dominix Navy Issue, Old Fit New Mods]
Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Imperial Navy Large Armor Repairer
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II Omnidirectional Tracking Link II Omnidirectional Tracking Link II Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 400 Tracking Computer II 100MN Afterburner II
350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I Large Anti-Kinetic Pump I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Garde II x5
Just over 1000 dps. Has an AB, which can save a bunch of time. Also an extra Omnilink over the first setup. The Navy Potato costs around 500M these days, the navy LAR around 100M. The kinetic rig assumes Gallente space, where you're mostly facing either Serpentis or Angels. You may be able to find a more palatable configuration, especially considering that the sentry damage rig is stacking penalized with the DDAs. Replacing both with more nano pumps would make the whole thing tankier. (If you do, you should replace the Magstab with another DDA.) It has cap issues that need micromanage-ing. Don't forget to turn off that LAR when you don't need it.
And finally, I've been wanting to try a setup like this since Inferno:
[Dominix Navy Issue, New Toys]
Power Diagnostic System II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II
Pith C-Type X-Large Shield Booster Dread Guristas Thermic Dissipation Field Dread Guristas Thermic Dissipation Field Dread Guristas Kinetic Deflection Field Omnidirectional Tracking Link II Omnidirectional Tracking Link II
425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
Large Semiconductor Memory Cell I Large Semiconductor Memory Cell I Large Processor Overclocking Unit I
Garde II x5
Just over 1100 DPS. Huge burst tank, doesn't know what a sustained tank is. That deadspace booster is only around 110M. Pimpage in the magstab department pushes the DPS further up (and might allow you to fit another 'stab).

With the drone damage mods, you can trick out a sentry proteus that matches an ishtar on DPS, has a better tank, and the scanning sub for better scanning.
I still prefer the proteus in the cloaky "let me sneak up behind you and punch you in the face" fit. |

I've been using Proteus in lvl4's for some time, it slices through Serpentis like hot knife through butter and it can tank the whole room 1 aggro in The Assault lvl4 mission. I suppose it would work equally well, if not better against Guristas. Great improvement over Navy Mega which was my previous lvl4 boat. DPS is somewhat weak on rats with high kin/thermal resists, like Angels, but still can finish those missions faster than a Rattlesnake would. And if you're using MWD+Blasters in PvE instead of AB+Rails you should cancel your sub.
But of course, Proteus has its issues - you have to orbit the rats while having your AB on to avoid most damage by speedtanking while trying to keep them within your optimal range, and stuff like optimal range, faloff, tracking and transversal velocity is all higher math for average Draketard, right?
