What will this entail, does anyone know anything regarding this quote taken from the Incursion page,
Quote: improvements to NPCs and their AI
Will it be sleeper AI for all NPC's? Will it mean NPC's will no longer generally be mentally subnormal?
Any and all related discussion welcome. -----

given that we all have the same info as you and it's 1 line in an "upcoming features" splash page, what did you expect? .

As long as they fix it so they dont primary drones so much (and have crazy overpowered tracking to hit them) like the sleepers do. Last thing most people want is to become useless mid-battle because all their DPS keeps getting destroyed and you cant reload your drone bay mid-fight. ------------------------ Peace through superior firepower: a guiding principle for uncertain times. |

Well the "1 line" in the feature page about the sansha mothership/fighters ended up turning into model renders, so you never know -----

Somehow i have a feeling that the incursions will be sleepers. When you think about all the key elements. Incursions...where to the come from...well wormholes probably. They have sleepers in wormholes. Sleepers come out from wormholes >> Incursions.
I very much doubt they will mess with mission NPC's, because we need easy money and hey...missions are either for noobs or pure grinding. Also good AI's need cpu and thus...more lag (unless the whole AI's is more efficient), but having smart npc's in missions means a lot...A LOT of cpu.
I'm more interested how ganking and ninja's work in these. What should we be paranoid about now?

Slightly buffed sleeper AI by the look of the dev blog. Unfortunately it is only for the incursion NPCs and not for the normal belt and mission rats.
On the other hand it would be nice if this was the start of a gradual and complete replacement of the current mission system.

I am pretty sure that CCP does not look upon missions as a source of easy money. Level 4 missions also are not a source of easy money until they were completely figured out, explained, dissected, recorded, ships fit out and you noobs started botting them up like heck.

Well with "we" i mean all the players in eve, but it doesn't remove the fact that the game needs currency and if getting it will be really dangerous and time consuming...they will find other ways. Mostly my point was that missions are the income for everybody. Not everybody can go into WH's and plexes.

Yeah... it's not like we've had any indications to the contrary...
Well, you know, except for the whole Sansha invading everywhere using wormhole bridges, the Sanshas getting a mothership and fighter-bombers in this expansion, and the Sanshas being specifically mentioned as the force responsible for the titular incursions.
Hint: it's not Sleepers, it's Sansha's Nation. -----

Actually you can't say that an AI needs a lot of CPU. Now if each individual ship in a one of those Sansha events was picking targets, moving around, changing targets, repping when needed yes that'd use a lot of CPU. But what if they remained reasonably dumb but open to suggestions from a director?
Same sort of thing Valve did in L4D, individually the NPC's are really quite dumb but it's the director AI running the show that makes it all happen.

You just forgot about the entire industrial sector of Eve noob. Some of us do mine, build, transport, and trade for income
