Hey guys :) So im about to finish my Frigate level 5, and now im wondering what i want to choose? Should it be Electronic Frigate, Indeceptor or Covert ops? :) I was hoping that you could share some of your exp with Tech II frigates :) Im going to do as much PVP as possible in my frigate by the way :)
Cheers all and fly safe..

Would help if we knew what you wanted the tech 2 frigate for? or even which frigate 5 you finished

if you have torpedo skills, stealth bombers are fun toys..
Er otherwise, id recommend interceptors. I cant really recommend EAFs because, well, they arent incredibly good from what ive seen >.>
covert ops are great to have either way, great for scouting and probing, and general wh-stuff, or 0.0 scouting stuff......

Sb fun and usefull in a group and can solo some stuff make good scouts
Inty great for tackelin and intro to small gang pvp,
Bigger inty/assault ships - can solo other frigs
Cov ops - great scanning and exploring ships. ------- "Because the Dominix is the Chuck Norris of Eve!" |

Id say inty is quite good with gangs, caldari assault frigates will be nice once they change the rockets

Edited by: ROXGenghis on 23/09/2010 14:13:17 Interceptors are a great way to start learning PVP because you have to learn manual control, range dictation, tackle, maximizing traversal, handling hostile drones, GTFO, etc. These are the basic PVP skills. Later on you can mess with other types of frigates. If you start with cloaky frigates, you won't develop very well-rounded PVP skills.
edit: I wish I'd started with Intys. I started with BC and now I suck at PVP.

Crow is good for this. Raptor not so much it has a slightly different purpose and is more difficult to fit.
A Hawk (with standard missiles) requires a lot of skills to fit. Skip it until teh rocket fix.
A Harpy. Well now...this ship is very versatile. I can be blaster fit for a couple hundred dps or "sniper" fit. I prefer 125s, a medium shield extender, and a tracking disruptor + point + mwd. But that's a 0.0 frig gang setup which may or may not work for you.
Stealth bombers are generally useless in low-sec.
Cov ops. Yup, you'll use one eventually probably. Yay?

Harpy, Kitsune, Manticore
The others are sub-par, although the Raptor is a better choice than the Crow. Shame the Caldari 'ceptors are so bad compared to the others and that the Hawk is almost impossible to fit and has a rubbish active tanking bonus (it'll still be sub-par after the rocket changes unless they suddenly become the GREATEST WEAPONS EVER).
The three ships listed, along with the Raptor all bring something different and useful to a small gang. The Harpy can go out solo as well once you're confident. Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |

Edited by: Xpaulusx on 23/09/2010 15:10:48 Harpy should be the obvious choice. Harpy can be fit 2 ways as a railed mini sniper or close in blaster ship. Good ship for frig gangs.

- If you fly jammer Kitsune your mates will hug you and luv you alot. Same goes for Blackbird. - Inty is a nice tackler and all, but tbh, you arent doing much since all small gang pvp ships fit tackle. - AFs are in general useless since all other small ships can fill their role, sometimes at same efficiency, sometimes even better.
