I realised that I'm addicted to Eve.
Why? I passed off a chance to see a movie because I wanted to play Eve.
How are you addicted to Eve and what have you passed off so you could play?

If you put as much effort into a "Digital Sport" as others put into a RL sport under the sun (and you are just as competitive in it) people then assume that you are "Addicted"
I suggest that there is less of a difference then people think.
Maybe you liked striving for you goals here, more then you wanted to watch that movie?

Made my 1st account, Ended a relationship, made a 2nd account, ended another relationship after only 10 days, made a 3rd account, plays all weekend when I don't sleep.
At work, there's nothing much to do, so I roam the forums/evegate/youtubing eve videos.
Was recently sick and home for 14 days. Played EVE 14 hours a day in that period.
Still loving it though! RL first of course.. or..

No, you're addicted to EVE when you are starting to shiver and shake whenever somebody tells you you can't log in for a few days or that your skillqueue is empty and you're not allowed to log in to fill it, and you start going on a rampage because of it.
If you just postpone (or give up) seeing a movie you didn't particularly wanted to see because you prefer playing EVE... well, it's just that EVE is better than the movie. Heh. I have very long skills I could set if needed to not have to log in for even a month, but I prefer to get other shorter skills out of the way. I don't mind at all if I can't do stuff in EVE for a long time, but I prefer to do it every now and then. I also prefer using the EVE forums once in a while, and I'm more active in the forums than logged into the game itself.

I got so addicted to Eve, I changed careers. I couldn't be happier as a result.
I used to be a dental technologist. High pay, zero reward. Imagine being hunched over a brightly lit workbench for hours a day, working on wee bits of funny metal and glass, many of which end up shooting bulletwise into your eyeball, and suddenly those big paychecks don't look nearly as appealing.
So I stopped doing that and started writing. Hobby at first, in the forums library... then for a few Eve chronicles, a few E-ON stories... eventually, I decided to go back to school, this time for journalism. My paychecks may be smaller, but my eyeballs are shrapnel-free.
Thx Eve u big galoot

In my day being addicted to eve meant:
0.0 ninja mining at 4am
4am bookmarking of roids and gates (back in the day of no jump to 0km)
setting your alarm clock to wake you up when a skill finished (no 24 hour skill timer)
:P

last week, I had 2 eve dreams
First while napping, I dreamed that I was ratting. I was going in and out of sleep IRL, so in the dream I kept nodding off while ratting. I woke up in the dream to find some reds on my ratting ship. That dream did not end well.
That night or the next, I dreamed that I was driving somewhere and my drones randomly attacked a car near me. The driver was ****ed and chased me through a parking lot.

You're addicted to EVE when...
You become a miner and industrialist obsessed with ore. You dream day and night about that ore... ways to efficiently mine it, sell it, obtaining it... to the point of devoting more than two accounts to gathering it. And then you do even more outrageous things to have that ore and eventually you'll do anything to get it at any cost and...
Okay... I better lay off the coffee. It's making my mind wander...

I was shooting at rats in a Haven with my Golem and heard my car alarm go off (in not the best neighborhood). I made sure my ship was docked before I went to check it (it was fine).
But it's ok, that Golem is worth more real life cash than the car...

How are you addicted to Eve and what have you passed off so you could play?
Rachel Luttrell has awesome bio about how sounds addiction to eve online:
"You know you play too much Eve When...
Someone dies in a movie you say, "Hope he had his clone up to date" You get mad at someone and say, "You are so podded" You call your IRL friends by their IC name. You make a life-size pod out of snow. You get on the freeway and say, "Warp drive..active." You look at the periodic chart and see "tritanium" instead of "titanium" You look up at the stars and wonder where your ship is You see cops busting someone and yell out "You have been Concorded!" When leaving your friends you say "Fly safe" When you type ub5() instead of md5() to calculate a MD5 checksum"
I love this bio so much

Not sure if I'm addicted, I'm treating it as a great way of spending my time.
Girlfriend: Yep, spend more time with her than with eve, a lot more. Time with friends: Yep, every 2nd weekend at worst Time with family: Yep (although I prefer my girl to my parents ;) ) Dog: still alive, fed well House condition: clean, no dust, anyone with asthma as bad as mine has to keep it really clean Garden condition: *cough cough* skip please Time spent logged in to eve daily: around 5 hours, although not playing even half of that. Collage: Yep, last year, almost all exams passing flawlessly.
Not sure, but I think I'm not addicted, although I probably spend around 2h average per day playing eve for the last 2 years I've been playing it. It's like a sport, REAL team sport, with hundreds of people you need to cooperate with, not like some lame football where you only have a dozen or so people on the tiny 2D FIELD! I'm having a 3D FIELD!

Why? I passed off a chance to see a movie because I wanted to play Eve.
How are you addicted to Eve and what have you passed off so you could play?
You're obviously not addicted enough to have noticed one of the thousands of other forum topics named EXACTLY this, that appears every other day.

When (trying) to log this morning (not reading the forums for the weekend), and found out "expanding downtime" with:
Not knowing (while panicking) which skill is set. After cooling down (and remembering it will last for 3 days) feeling VERY satisfied.
Realizing that i cannot maintain my production lines, which have to be set on mornings, feeling not so satisfied anymore.
Knowing that GF and i are going on "expanded wellness weekend" from Thursday till Sunday and i¦m not allowed to take my notebook with me (i promised), feeling not satisfied at all.
I¦m hooked.....
Fake edit: Sent a notebook to the hotel from work today. Please don¦t let me get cought.

I tried (sadly) to read your post (quoted above) but (to my dismay) it was terribly filled with (or at least littered with) too many brackets.

You know you're addicted to EVE when...
A) All you can be arsed to blog about (personal r/l, not EVE-related blog) anymore are the (mis-)adventures of your new-ish ninja-salvager character. That and posting old expansion trailers as a none-too-subtle way to try and get your friends to try EVE!
B) When you dream--often!--about PvP encounters whilst sleeping.
C) When the mechanical engineer you're trained as keeps trying to design a real-world version of the Rifter in his/my head. Constantly. And the Crow, too. And the Vagabond, and the Jaguar, and the...
D) Asking the cop if you can pay your speeding fine (120km/h in an 80 zone ) in ISK, and/or offering him a PLEX if he'll just "look the other way, just this once..." (Didn't work, I might add.)

When you get in a car wreck and run away from the scene before you get podded, you are playing too much.
I seriously considered getting NVYSCORP as my next set of license plates.
I have turned down more than one booty call to keep on playing.
I am seriously thinking of quitting smoking so I can afford more accounts in a revenue-nuetral way. EVE can be a healthy lifestyle choice. :)

When you start playing in the early evening and then realise it's time for breakfast.
Forgetting to eat.
Forgetting to drink.
But the worst one is when you are in bed trying to sleep and you are still playing the game in your head.

Your last skill needed to train X t2 ship is going to finish soon and you are in the restroom doing your business. In the next room you hear, "Skill Training Completed." You now have no skills training. You now contemplate. "Do I complete my business here? Or take a chance and go load my next skill."

You know you are addicted to EVE when you finally log off after spinning your ship for an hour just to start roaming the EVE-O forums for new and insightful discussions about EVE. You then fiddle a bit in pyfa and log back in EVE, resuming ship spinning.
