Just found this little critter hanging on my door and unfortunately my google-fu turned up nothing similar...
Anyone with knowledge of spiders care to give me some insight?

Looks like a southern house spider, with a name like house spider it must be cuddly. Signature locked for editing a moderator's warning. Zymurgist |

Arizona Spider
Brown Recluse Spider
Hobo Spider
Orb Stretch Spider
Closest things I could find. I'm unaware on whether it's feasible spiders can crossbreed.

The distinguishing feature of the black recluse is the red violin shape on the back of the thorax Signature locked for editing a moderator's warning. Zymurgist |

Spiders have thorax's? I wasn't even aware they flew Gallente. Let alone that they have musical talents.
Apologies. Had to be said.

The spider in the op looks like a harmless garden spider that got lost in his house. Be glad it wasn't a toilet spider. ZOMG!!! |

Nothing of use to add to the OP, I'm just here to indulge on my formidable fetishism for spiders.

Edited by: Kravick Drasari on 23/09/2010 23:54:37 This is some coincidence. I saw this same exact spider on my wall the other day. I tried to identify it but also couldn't find anything that looked exactly like it. Its not a brown recluse. I used to live in a house that had those ****ers all over the basement. The abdomen and markings are not the same. Brown recluse also don't have hairy looking legs.
Its not your common house spider either as those are orb spiders (fat abdomen with tiny head). This looks more like a hunting spider of some kind. Its also much larger than your common house spider.
Someone needs to identify this thing.
I should mention that I live in Ohio if that helps to ID by region.
