Ok, so up to this point i havn't done a lot of PvP, not that i'm against it or anything, more that i havn't had the opportunity.
Anyway, recently my corp and some friends went hunting a known pirate (name witheld to protect the guilty ). We had a good gang going (some would say overkill, but there you go) but unfortunately we missed him, and came home empty handed. I've been keeping my eye open for him since, and noticed that he was online tonight, and that there were a few kills in his usual stomping grounds.
I paid my agent to locate him, and a few minutes later she informed me that he was just 2 jumps from my current location.
Now, this guy is known to fit a WCS or two, so i loaded my trusty Stiletto with 3 scramblers and set out, only to find he was in the next system across. After checking all the gates at the system and coming up empty, i headed to a station but he was not there. Hmm. Then as i was thinking about undocking, my target docked and undocked fairly quickly. I waited a moment to give his ship time to clear the station (i didn't really want to emerge into a L smartbomb) and undocked, only to find him closer than i had hoped, with a sensor booster running.
Now by this point, my heart was beating nineteen to the dozen, but he warped out just as i was thinking about locking him up. Cue adrenaline come-down. Rather than chase him all round the system i decided to wait by a stargate in the hope that he'd show up looking for game. I picked the gate for my home system and started orbitting the billboard.
Maybe 10 minutes later or so he shows up, some 40 km or so away, and locks me up. I set a spiral approach so i keep my transverse up (i don't know if large lazers will hit a stiletto at that kind of range, but didn't really want to find out the hard way). I chanced a burst from my MWD to get me in faster, and set orbit for 5 km.
Now i'm flying around his Geddon like a mosquito around a gorilla (minus the buzz). He has me locked, and i him. His sec rating would have allowed me to open fire, but i'd never have the firepower to take down a BS, but that was never my plan. Even so, i asked on corp chat if anyone was close enough to lend a hand, but nobody was within easy reach. By this time i'm physically shaking from head to toe.
At that point though, he opened fire, causing the sentries to retaliate ... at last, my plan was coming together.
I madly mashed the buttons to activate the scramblers and nos as the sentries pounded away at his shields. Into armour and i turn on my autocannons, for all the good they may do. Armour gone, and he's into structue ... surely i have him now ... and sure enough, a few seconds later his ship pops. I try to lock the pod (i want that bounty after all) but too late, he's already warping. I didn't get any kill mail, i guess the sentries took the credit .
Wow. What a rush.
Now, some 2 hours later and i'm just about calm enough to go to sleep. How do you guys do this every day?

tbh what idiot flying a laser boat fires at a stilleto, a ship you can pretty much expect to be pure tackler, in front of sentry guns ---------------------------

The first times its really the worst, but even with almost a year of eve and about 8 months of piracy and combat behind me, I sometimes still get the shakes..
Something about this game just makes it work for me, the difficulty of making money and the real sense of loss (time wasted) if u lose a ship. Being rich really makes it go away though in the long run, but still once in a while, when we do an outnumbered and outgunned battle my heart still goes rocking and a rollin'
Anyways good job mate , but Im sure u will be back for more, the rush always makes me go back ---------------------
I'm the guy with the sleepy look...

heh aye in a geddon he should have launched drones and used them primarily, if he was a tanked ship he might have survived.
But how do we do it... well that adrenaline rush is something special. Outside of athletics, I have only ever found it in games like EVE which pit players against eachother with something to lose on both sides.
Eventually it becomes a bit less... overpowering. First kill is always the strongest. But there is always that rush as the lasers fly before you know what is about to happen. Its what makes this game fun.
Now you just need to get a group together and try a fleet battle Absolutely nothing like 20+ capital ships doing their absolute best to reduce eachother to scrap.

Yeah, looking back at it there's a ton if ways it could have gone wrong, but as you say, the rush makes it worthwhile.
I don't think he was too well tanked either, as i pulled a bunch of lowslot ECCM mods out of the can, plus a tracking enhancer.

Feel the beautiful rush of adrenaline, and cherish it. It will never, ever be as strong as the first time, but you'll always feel some.

ahhh, I remember the shakes. Those go away once you get used to it abit. I remember my first couple pvp experiences, I wanted to run out and tell everyone what had happened in exact detail. Just like you just did.
Hope you enjoyed it, congrats on popping your cherry (Although *technically* it wasn't your kill).

I remember the first time I ever tried to hunt pirates alone in Jan. There was an angels of wrath guy in a caracal, and I was in a BB. I had no experiance so I was like "omg omg omg die <hyperventilates>", of course I was so n00b I failed miserably to even damage him before he docked, and had all the wrong modules fitted. But the confrontation was a buzz -----------------

The first few kills are always the best. Eventually you will get used to it...
Now I start to sweat and shake when I haven't had a kill in a few days...nothing worse than being stuck at your parents house for the holidays while everybody else gets to blow stuff up :(

The thing is, you wouldn't feel anything nearly as strong if you'd have killed him with the gank fleet. Underdog victories and perfect situations are rare things to be cherished. Enjoy it.

Ahh yeah the shakes. I'm mostly over them but the other day I took on an assault frig in my buzzard. That was a little shakey.
But yeah, that's why pirates pirate despite making **** isk, and that's why PvP is by far the best part of this game. I've never gotten that rush from pulling in that last unit of crokite.

The tensing up and stuff is now my favorite part of the game. You can get used to it and not shake, but my hands still sweat when it gets pretty heated. _ _ How many pilots does it take to wire a Flux Capacitor? 3, 1 to wire it and 2 to talk about how the old one was better. |

I got the shakes the other day when I was flying my Rifter, locked a war enemy in a Punisher which turned out to be a Vengeance. --------------
