Thanks, nice info here.
It is written that Caldari ships have the best attributes for EW... However, as a non Caldari BS pilot with 5 MED slots, can EW be made to work as a defensive measure for say travelling from one system to another in 0.0 without insta BM?
I do appreciate that any EW solution would not help if meeting anything more than one or two ships at a gate.
It would be interesting if EW could be used for more than just fleet engagments or 1V1 PvP.

Do these weapons work only against other players? Or can they also work against the computer controlled ships?

Will be interesting to see how EW is overhauled later in a few months. I read somwhere that its going to be probability based instead, which only sounds logical. .
EW in Eve is a bit backwards, its not about hiding your capabilities or masking yourself, but rather its offensive. Defensive EW doesnt really exist, which is a shame. An activated module you can fit that reduces your signature radius and makes you harder to lock would be a nice addition. Of course there is sensor dampeners, but they are also a targeted offensive module, it does not affect you, but one of your opponents. The only real defensive modules are the backup arrays and ECCM modules. Im hoping that changes.

Of course - if you can target jam the person attacking you, it's a good way of being able to either kill him or simply get away from the attacker

afaik the npc:s have a base strength of 100 in all, so while probably technically possible it's not really useful against npc:s.

Yes, it will be very interesting... and the changes will most likely make this guide obsolete.
Also, it will probably put an end to my days as an EW pilot, due to the fact that the EW skills are using my lowest attributes. With all the new EW skills combined with the coming missile overhaul where missiles will require more skills aswell (I assume) it doesn't seem like it'll be a viable option for me again anytime soon.

About bursts:
I tested this a few months ago (pre exodus) and found that while the cycle on a burst is for example 20 seconds, the jamming only lasts for a brief period when you activate the module. I've found this module only useful for breaking target lock temporarily, and most ships can re-lock in the time it takes to burst again.
Does anyone know any different?

Yes, the bursts only jams for a split second, and you can relock immediately. The cycle is how long time it takes until you can reactivate the module.
