Edited by: Pumnezeu Razargulatron on 30/09/2010 03:15:30 Hi all.
Hopefully without getting into why I may be considering this and irrespective of what the better option may be, I simply would like to know if the overall tracking speed of the large pulse lasers on an armageddon battleship can be made decent enough ( a lot of the fit being towards that ) with my newcomer 2.7 million skill points to run Level 3 missions for amarr navy ? Just need to know from people that might have encountered this, if I will have any succes in fitting a good amount of tracking speed upgrades on my ship in order to handle most to all of the considerably smaller level 3 enemy ships in amarr navy missions.

In general. No. Regardless of skill, using a Geddon on a level 3 is not very effective.
As Cyno storm suggested a battlecruiser will have an easier time of tracking targets.
Though you would most likely be able to complete the mission (especially since the geddon has a good sized drone bay)
You would be far better off using a Harbinger or even a Prophecy. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

The Prophecy is not viable for anything but bait. I wish it actually had a use. Its one of my favorite ship models. Absolution on the other hand wrecks stuff.

If only there was an incentive to fit Lasers, like a Dmg or RoF Bonus!
I also love the Maller hull too!

With the proper setup, the Prophecy is passable as a mission runner, heck it survived before the Harbinger was invented.
Mind you I said passable, not good. But still it would be better then the geddon.
PS seriously, why are you focusing so much on the prophecy anyway? and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Because, as I said before, I love the ship model and wish it had an actual use! That and I can't fly an Absolution yet.

Have an apoc with heavy beams, 2 heat sinks and a AB. You wont have any problems with tank, fitting, capa or anything other problems you will get into with a BC.
With maxed capa skills you can change 2 meds for tracking comps.

if you have to use a BS then fit pulse lasers [or if your cap strapped then maybe autocannons - there is a reason] --

I have used an Armageddon in Amarr (Blood/Sansha/Drones/EoM) L3 missions until two months ago. Performance was a vast improvement compared to Harbinger.
Fit a tracking computer and load it with script according to situation.
Use tactical view to prioritize targets. If a cruiser gets under your guns use "look at" and click into space to go into the same direction. This will lower transversal speed and will let your guns track. Have transversal speed visible in your overview! You need light drones to deal with frigs in general, but try to kill them off when they burn towards you and transversal is low. Use two groups of turrets for this to minimize weapon downtime.
I rarely ran missions against other empire factions, dunno how it will fare here.
Angel missions are a pain, I avoided them. Damsel has one group orbiting super close. Warp to distance or blitz the mission.
Btw, when progressing to L4 you'll want beams, T1 pulses don't cut it at 40KM and beyond. Apoc may perform well with pulses, but I have never flown it myself.
