While my corp is pretty small, everyone can at least view the wallet.
Regardless of size, I think everyone should be able to see where their contributions are going. If they're not willing to share, I'd be concerned they're using it for themselves. ---------------- A million faces, each a million lies |

Edited by: Lady Ayeipsia on 30/09/2010 17:29:43 Translation... you are too new to the corp for us to trust you with this information, wait a while.
That's my take on their statement. As for who has access and can see it, it really depends on the corp doesn't it? I know when it's just me and friends in RL, everyone usually ends up as a director and it's not an issue. Unknowns join, they have no roles and no access to anything. They are not even told where Corp assets are located. Why, well, I have trust issue.
As for taxes and where your money goes, how much do you really pay in taxes? Is it a mission running corp and they tax at 50%, or just the standard 10% and that only applies when you are bored and ratting? In the first case, you should be able to see where the taxes go, in the latter, not like it matters.

Does your RL boss show you his company's bank account? No. If you want to know where your money is going, just ask them to explain where the money goes and a basic breakdown

Although I normally take the side of little guys, I can tell you why you should actually be pleased at your corp's policy.
Espionage is very prominent in EvE. One can even argue that every large alliance that has fallen to this day, was primarily because of espionage (PoS password steal, massive ISK theft, cap ship theft, unlimited information flow, etc).
Your corporation does not want their wallet to be viewed because being able to monitor their purchases and other transactions will allow you to infer as to what their future plans are. It takes ISK to build a fleet, build a industrial fleet, build a PoS, etc. Allowing a possible spy to view this information would be the same as sending your enemies a letter informing them of your future plans.

If it's an issue for you, find a new corp?

I am the wallet inspector. You must offer up all your wallets to me, for inspection.

Its just a matter of philosophy.
It seems to me that avoiding drama should be a top goal for all corp leaders. Seeing the wallet raises questions that others more involved might know the whole story on. There is so much to do that taking the effort to explain stuff all the time is a poor use of resources that could be better spent rallying people for roams etc.
Pretty much, if you start doing things for a corp.. becoming a recruiter...stocking pos's etc you've moved up a role and probably are in enough contact with the other leaders to have a clue on nuanced decisions of isk movement.
As for the paying taxes entitles you thing... if you're in a decent corp you are getting something from your taxes... you're getting access to a cohesive group of people that may have taken resources over time to build (human resouces spent developing a corp is an investment ...time = isk... and corp name rep is an asset etc). Maybe you're getting access to space and jump brideges that renters need t pay for .
Maybe in addition to taxes you're contributing attendence at CTAs etc but pretty much you are getting something for those contributions or you're in the wrong corporation.
TLDR a something for nothing suggestion doesn't hold water (you didn't say it, but it was a veiled suggestion)
As far as the accountablity... sjure they could share the informtion but doing so could createe a cost in terms of controversy and they're need to be more anal about thier movment of funds which wastes time too. There's also the issue of spies etc ...especially if capital construction is involved.
There is a rational cost benefit analysis whether to share or not. Proabally the larger the corporation more that tilts to less transparency to newer members particularly (new could mean 6 months for people who've played togehter for years)
Sitll, if its something important to you, maybe you'd get alond socially with other people who see it the same way, so that could be a sign that you're not a good social fit for the group you've joined.

It's alright for u to see a wallet, 99.9% of the time you can't dictate where it's going anyways. amirite? [center]
