Oh gg. I spelt embarrassing wrong, good work on spotting typo's genius. You sir are pro! I remember when I had my first beer. Look at all my tears -
p.s. I wonder if any of you posting "Read the EULA" have read it yourselves, or have even read my posts because again I have not demanded, or said I am entitled to anything - this thread started as purely speculation of the possibility of skill reimbursement, and you all have perverted into some sort of futile flaming. Again I suggest you all learn to read, and read entire posts before making snap judgements and running to defend your precious devs, when they weren't even under attack in the first place.
I know most of you have prob been refreshing the EVE-O forums for the past 5 hours, and are pretty bored, but the rest of us have lives and are just checking in to see what is going on now.

FWIW, "typo's" shouldn't have an apostrophe. And there are a few commas missing.

Just like someone pointed out in the other thread: What about all the time that downtime was already over after 30min instead of 1hour?
Sum that up and it makes up the lost time from today, and you still have extra time you didnt pay for.
Amazing, isnt it?

While i realize we're not entitled to any additional skill points... What would it hurt?
Someone needs to explain the downside of compensating players during unexpected downtime in a way that's absolutely free to CCP, and doesn't unbalance or harm the game in any way.

Because it doesn't matter.
There are lots of game issues that need addressing - this isn't one of them.
We all lose a few hours of training time, sometimes stretching to years.
Non-issue.

That would make sense if this was somthing that required development time. A tool has been developed to distribute skill points, utilizing i is an administrative task that wouldn't take any time away from anything else in the game.
So the choice isn't; Free skill points or bug fixes... It's as simple as free skill points or no free skill points.
So again i ask.. what's the harm?

bravo on your choice of words...
btw, just for future reference, to make sure this sort of "confusion" doesn't happen again...
there's a big difference between a direct quote, and an implication...
while yes, you sure are right that you didn't demand, nor stated any entitlement, towards anything....you sure as hell implied some level of entitlement...
your exact words ->
Originally by: Esharan I pay for a service, I expect it to be delivered - no I am not ungrateful, and no I don't think skill reimbursement is beyond the scope of possibility again considering there is precedent.
that, good sir, is implying that you are owed something due to unforeseen circumstances...
in other words...
quit implying entitlement, and quit crying

Don't really care much how many hours EVE is down for patching. What does annoy me is to get back for another pushed deadline, over and over again. Of course if EVE was down for weeks/months, I would just stop subscribing.
If the deadlines for patching always fail by this far (hundreds of percent, even up to 9000), why not just accept it, learn from your mistakes, and go for a more reasonable down time to begin with.
If its tech being scared ****-less about loosing jobs if they tell management the truth, then its another ballgame all together, and we understand and sympathize.

because it sets a very bad precedent.
anyone here that's been a parent will know that placating/bribing a child for an easy life just leads to more headaches. If you want your kid to learn to tidy their room and have to bribe them with a cookie each time, eventually the kid won't understand why they don't get a cookie every damn time and will start to think that there's no need to clean the room as they didn't get their cookie.
CCP really screwed the pooch last time and so they gave a SP gift for an unacceptably long downtime and subsequent problems. Ok, so today we're down for a couple of hours more than planned, really no big deal in the larger picture - so if they give out SP for this too, then pretty soon the forums will be (even more) filled with people requesting/demanding free SP because downtime was 20 minutes longer than expected.
You may not see the harm, but it's there.
Oh, and for good measure, here's the EULA we all agree to in order to play EvE but which so few people ever read. Emphasis provided for those still missing the point.
Quote: NO WARRANTIES The Software, System, Game and all Game Content, and all other services and material provided in connection therewith, are provided "AS IS," with all faults, and without warranty of any kind. You assume all risk of use and all risk associated with accessing the System and playing the Game.
CCP disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for particular purpose and non-infringement. There is no warranty against interference with your enjoyment of the Game. CCP does not warrant that the operation of the System or your access to the System, or that your use of the Software, will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor that the System or Software will be compatible with your hardware and software.
While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play. The System may become unavailable for a number of reasons, including without limitation during the performance of maintenance to the System, for the implementation of new software, for emergency situations and due to equipment or telecommunications failures.
To summarize - no one is entitled to anything for a long DT. CCP might decide to give free SP occasionally to those that lose in excess of a day, but that's their choice - not YOUR right. .

you sir are quite correct...
Now to those that want the SP, what would 25k SP do in your life anyway? This post is quite ridiculous. Also, think about it! What's a few hours of you life worth anyways, can't you find something else to do??? I mean, what would happen if TQ server caught fire and burned at the same time that a meteorite crashed on CPP HQ, the game COULD die at any moment for any reason.
This isn't a post about having lost game time... people just want freebies and are simply going to far to get a few dimes worth.

please explain how the DT caused you to need a reimbursement.
skill training persists through downtimes, unless something changed.
any skill training lost is due to User Error...
