Obviously you guys have way too many issues with the new patch, obviously you need to do a rollback and figure out what went wrong...

There are problems that inevitably aren't found during beta testing, and CCP has to release it some day and find out the hard way. Rollbacks are a pain for everyone, while patch issues usually only affect a slice of the pie. A big one as the case may be, but not the majority.
If you have a lot of trouble with patching, perhaps you should make sure to use the test server every now and then and get these problems found and noted early.
One of the big issues with Eve patching is that there is a far smaller player base than with many MMOs. Because of this, it takes an active effort from us players to help CCP help us through these times. We can't just sit back like with WoW and assume that 1% of the player base will test it and find every imaginable problem.

I don't think I've ever seen CCP do a rollback.
They always forge ahead... even if it means giving free SP to everyone. They will fix the majority of the big issues and put all the smaller stuff on the backlog/parking lot.

They have once, and I can honestly say forging ahead is the better option..

well I can now go sideways into warp, and if I pop into planet mode for some goofball reason when I pop out im flying backwords half the time.
that and I now have a speed meter that sometimes shows me doing my max warp speed for no aparent reason. I literaly have to dock or jump to get it to unstick but that has only happend when i had 2 clients up at the same time.

well to be blunt I doubt a lot of the changes that are currently causing the nice little swarm of bugs were dealing with were actualy put ON sisi for more than the random mass test they did when they rolled back sisi to the "current" version.

Hopefully not going to happen

You seem to like the word 'Obviously' a lot. Since when has a gaming company done a rollback on a patch? Things can go really smoothly on the test server, but go horridly wrong on Tranq. This also happens with every other game. Chill out.

Sisi was pretty ****ed up the few weeks prior to this patch...
(Also it seems the CCP devs have completely forgotten they have a 2nd test server for random test patches, ie, mulit)

A rollback is something you would do when database issues start cascading (i.e. people buying stuff but getting no items). Most of the current problems are client related so a fix is needed, not a rollback. Get your facts straight.

No a roll back happens when your server room goes up in flames and you haven't given a rats ass for daily back ups. These days when building redundancy costs peanuts (compared to what it used to cost) roll back events should be firmly in history.

They did one in the first month that Eve was live. They messed up insurance and there was so much "insurance fraud" amongst ex-beta players that CCP rolled it back. Patch was on a Thursday, rollback happened on a Saturday.
Only reason I remember is because it was the first week I played and the server was up and down like a yoyo.

Issues WERE noted early and still made it to TQ. A terrible fail-patch.
Issues, even non game breaking ones that you push to prod ignoring defects that you may fix later is sloppy, disrespectful and just shows you what CCP will do these days.

Oh please give us a break. The fact that one of the most used functions of the game, rat wreck cargo windows, opens in it's default location SCREAMS that no beta testing was involved in this patch.
Along with the other window issues it's safe to say they didn't even run a client with the new patch before it went into production.

Obviously you have no damn clue what a rollback means.... dont ask for stuff you have no clue about.
Rollback + then using logs to restore would take a huge amount of time. ---------------------------------- Fighting for something

Yeah all those problems you notice immediately after logging in required thorough and rigorous beta testing.

This patch appears to have gone completely untested. There's no way even a few dozen people could have missed all the little quirks and bugs sprinkled throughout the post-patch UI, unless they use Braille readers to play EVE.

àand no-one is complaining about those.
The complaints are about the problems that could under no circumstance have been missed if they beta-tested, because everyone+dog noticed them within 5 seconds of logging in. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
