Was wondering a couple things about creating a sec character on same account.
1. Does it continue to train offline like main? 2. Can you transfer items/ships/ISK to your alt and vice versa? 3. Should it be the same race and faction so they can cooperate somehow?
Thanks Keep your head down and keep moving!! |

1. no it cannot train at the same time as the main if they are both on the same account.
2. yes, via contract, or if in the same corp you can use an office hanger.
3. nope, it can be of any race or faction. Race and faction only matter for looks mostly now-a-days. _____ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Always ascertain the vintage of the first two.

You can only have ONE single character training a skill on one account. If you have all three character slots with a character each, two of them will not be training anything. That's why people that want to play more than one character will usually have one account for each character, at least as long as the character is actively training skills.
You can transfer anything to anybody else via contracts, regardless of whether they are alts of yours, be it on the same or another account. You can NOT train "Contracting" on a trial account, it needs to be a full account. If you have more than one paid-for account, you can log into all of them at the same time (assuming your PC can handle it) and have them interact with eachother any way you see fit. You can NOT log in a trial account at the same time as any other account type.
Character race, bloodline and school is barely more than just cosmetic. It would take minimal effort to practically ignore any difference that might result from RL friends playing characters of "naturally enemy" races. If you want to join the same player corp, all that's needed is a CEO with a few levels in "Ethnic Relations", which is dirt cheap and can be trained quite fast almost from the start. In this game, it is your actions as a player that determine pretty much everything and what skills you train determine what you can do... what race your character is doesn't really matter.

It's important to note that when many people say Alt. They actually mean second PAID ACCOUNT.
IE I'm training Large Energy Weapons on my Main and Mining on my alt.
In that case, 1) yes, because it's a second paid account 2) log on with two clients and you can transfer via trade. 3) no race doesn't matter.
Other times it refers to the two other slots in your character selection. so 1) no, only one training character per account 2) contracts only, or transfer by a second account 3) no race doesnt matter
PS:Question 3) indicates that you think race matters for alot. In eve it doesn't. Only a handful of RP corps even care. Skill wise you'll be caught up in less then a day (and that's with no learning skills and attributes skewed to something ridiculously stupid).
For example, I fly all races and don't even remeber what my CEO's race is. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

I don't know where you people get that but it definitely wasn't the case when I made an alt a few months ago. Not being able to run two clients simultaneously might appear if you have both accounts as trials (as in someone who cares might test this) but as long as you have at least one full account there's no issue what so ever running your mains client along with your alt's trial client on a same computer.

I am sorry, but you are patently incorrect. Go actually TRY this ('this' being, logging into the game with a trial and a paid account simultaneously) and then come back and let us know how well it worked for you...
CCP changed this like 3 years ago, and it has not changed since. --------------------------------------------

I used a 24 day buddy offer to make my alt and quite certainly had no problems running two accounts simultaneously on a same computer. There might be something iffy with 14 day offers but who uses those anyway when you can get 24days by sending a mail for your self.

OK ... did you create a 24 day TRIAL account? Or did you pay for it - and get 24 days free? 'Cause that's not the same thing. If you gave them a credit card # - it wasn't a trial account.
In any case, I did - just now - make a 14 day trial account - logged into it - then tried to log in with my paying account and got:
Quote: While we appreciate your enthusiasm to try EVE, we would also appreciate if you could limit yourself to using a single trial or subscription accounts only.
Which is just how it has always worked for Trial Accounts in the past.

I have used a buddy plan in the past to create another account - but when I did (I do believe) that it was created as a paying account - not as a trial account.
In any case, I did - just now - make a 14 day trial account - logged into it - then tried to log in with my paying account and got:

As to why someone would use the 14 day trial instead of the buddy plan - that is because the buddy plan is NOT always available. Right now - there is no Buddy Plan button on the web page - like there is for the 14 day trial. So THAT is why someone would do that.
Now that you mentioned I did put my credit card details for my alt but I don't remember actually paying for time until 21-days were up. However seeing how it works for the rest in this thread I stand corrected. Anyway buddy offer is still where it should be which is what I used (under my character tab).

Yes. That is correct. The "Buddy Program" is under the "EVE Insider" selection, right below "My Character". In the past - it came and went and they'd send you e-mails about it but ... it may be a permanent thing now. Orbiting vs. Kiting Faction Schools |
