Whats wrong with low sec? No, its not GCC timers, its not not being able to make isk, its not even that low sec is just the place between 0.0 and high sec. I know what it is. It is that low sec has got the Tiny Balls Syndrome (TBS for short).
Faction war are the people who have been infected most by TBS. In fact I think it was faction war who started this rapidly growing pandemic. They have been showing the symptoms long before I noticed them in anyone else.
Symptoms include - Not wanting to fight unless grossing outnumbering the opponent - FALCONS IN EVERY GANG - Bringing ******edly bigger ships to a gang when they have a choice (live in the same system, but bring Battleships for a few cruisers) - Running the moment things start to get a little hairy. - Talking **** in local, sitting on the high sec gate with a security status higher than -5.0. - Showing an unnatural attraction to sentry guns.
It seems there is no way to protect yourself from TBS either. If you join a corp already ripe with TBS, then within a few days you will begin to notice that the spuds beteen your thighs will begin to shrink. After that its only a matter of time before you become a *****.
There is only one cure for this. That is for CCP to give everyone with TBS free testical elargements. By giving everybody who need tham a bigger pair of balls: Low sec will be a better place for everybody to be. DO IT CCP!

I think a lot of problems could be resolved by changing how local functions, this is not an original idea but it still remains valid. Making local a constellation/regional local as opposed to solar system only would be a big step, making it function like wh space would be another route.
So while what you have stated is valid, I think the issue goes deeper, if local was not present the targets that immediately bail out/dock etc as soon as you enter local would not be able to know you entered local unless they physically see you with a scout.
The pipe we both live in and around sucks because most of it is a single system to single system jumps, so by placing 1 noob in a cov ops in 1 system you can effectively observe all hostile movements in your direction, only have to spam scan to get ship types when you see local ballooning.
Lowsec is nothing more than bait and blob ganks, most of the time the outcome of the engagement is decided before any fighting actually begins.
I agree with most of your bullet points but I think that is widespread in most games, talking **** is how some people achieve that "win" feeling, the fact that they hug highsec gates is just their nature. I sincerly wish that there was a way to remotely bump people off of gates, like an AOE module that when activated pushes all ships on grid 10-15 km from where they were....but now my mind is wandering
I will point out that as time passes my ...willingness...to chase around/bait/waste 30-45 minutes setting up an engagement is fading. It sucks when you know there are targets just ready to get killed but also know that as soon as your gang enters the local chat window the opportunity for a fight is lost.

When a Low Sec Roam finishes and I plan to safe up in Hi Sec I sometimes sit on the gate. I played a bumping game with another Cane once, then dueled him when I jumped just as he was about to bump me for a third time, then followed me into the 0.5 I was planning on docking for bed, good fight good kill!
But yeah the tactic is definatly cheap, I would not mind the full set of 8 sentries on the Hi Sec gates to discourage the overly safe camps!

I can't remember the last time I saw "people ratting in lowsec", maybe it's just where I live but the population of players around where I live breakdown something like;
40% negative sec status people looking for a gank 30% high sec status people looking for a gank 15% neutral alts of above characters (unprobeable gang link ships/cov ops/shuttle scouts/their bait "ratting"/logistics supply alts) 10% travellers (gate to gate traffic) 3% people looking for 4/10 6/10 plexes/sites 2% somebody trying to run a mission
That said, I don't think that this is a lowsec only issue, I think it is more the way pvp in eve has been heading for the past three years plus in regards to small gang combat.

You are wrong, while FW does have incredibly high levels of TBS, it has not infected them. It has always been there, because most FW's come from a high-sec background and it is amplified by the way the 'sheep' -read fw grunts- act, they only join the fleets of those FC's that they know won't get them killed. --- I smack just for myself. Amarr militia pilot here. I can safely say that the minmatar militia is suffering from TBS far faaaaar more than my own militia. It's getting harder and harder to suicide into their gangs, they just scatter the second you turn your guns on.
"ohgod he's engaging, HE MUST HAVE FRIENDS WITHIN 15 JUMPS, GET OUUUUUUUTTTTTTTT"
That being said, in my opinion the REAL sufferers of TBS are the fail supercarrier blob alliances that hotdrop the militia fleets.
"hai gais, letts hurpdrop tiny militial gang wit r moms"
Though, it appears they already know about their TBS and are compensating by flying bigger rides...

yeh and the one thing you forgot to mention. Half of low sec and FACTION WAR have a high security status. For pirate and people like us (whos natural home is low sec, its where we live, we cant enter high sec) thats a pretty big disadvantage.

I guess it is like that except it is like the gangs in the ghetto are unhappy with the low ammount of violence, and want the government to ramp it up a bit so targets can not escape.

You are proving my point even further my friend .
As I said, 'living' in low-sec is harsh, and not for the faint-hearted. If you are (as you say you are) a low-sec pvping inhabitant then you HAVE to have a -10.0 sec status, and somehow those -10.0 'pirates' (as everyone likes to call them) somehow still manage to camp off and kill low-sec 'guests' (read, people in lowsec without a -10.0 sec status/perma criminal-flag).
Which really can only mean that those successful (read: win more than lose) -10.0 low-sec dwellers have to be REALLY good pvpers and really good at managing all aspects of location fights and tanking/kiting in order to kill people that just dwell into low-sec for a quick roam or travel while they are constantly managing/tanking/kiting sentry aggro.
THOSE are the real pvp pros, not those empire 'lets wardec sum nubs and while fighting have a neutral friendly corp RR us' pussies or those 0.0 'CTA CTA TITANS>MOMS>DREADS>CARRIERS>ARMOR LOGIS>RR BS> HICS/DICS>EVERYTHING ELSE BLOB THE **** OUT OF THEM WITH OUR NAPLIST' blobbers.
I have nothing but the uttermost respect for those brave people that dare to reside, live and hunt in low-sec space.
Truth be told, the 'hard-mode' makes you harden the **** up and forces you to LEARN to be on top of every aspect of the pvp combat system from tweaking your ship to non-stop manually flying and paying good attention to your local, visual screen, module statusses, intel chans and overview.
If you can't deal with it due to a lack of intelligence, interest, time, dedication, reaction/thinking speed, leadership skills etc etc... you won't win much fights. If you CAN however, in my opinion that's as close to a 'graduating from eve pvp academy with top grades' achievement as you're going to get. __________________________________________________

All the very Honourable players (nay, Gentlemen!) disengage when it becomes clear they have shamefully brought more ships to the fight than their opponents. True fact.
Even more true fact: all those complaining about blobbing IN THIS THREAD I have personally seen engage in dumb blobby ganks of outclassed noobs many times over. Get off your high horses, you freaking e-honor hypocrites.
Judge a book by its cover and be an idiot. Judge a book by its content and be... well, not an idiot I suppose.
Whether people in these here thread personally engage in blob warfare or not is irrelevant to the point made that blobs simply ARE less frequent in low-sec as they are harder to manage when you have your tacklers and killmailwhoring no-tank full gank riffruff of pilots flying around bumping into eachother and everything, lagging behind, jumping before jump commands.. and generally getting killed by sentry fire the second they engaged something going "WTF IM DED OMG DIZ IS NOT 0.0!! SENTRIES PWNT ME!!! FC REPAI MI SHIP NAO".
The fact that I am one of those afore mentioned 0.0 blobbing blithering idiots doesn't mean I can't occasionally have an accidental lapse of reason.

low-sec has sentry fire at gates and stations preventing falcons and lame-ass ships from operating properly low-sec doesn't have gay-as-life hic and dic bubbles low-sec doesn't have gay-as-life sov-warfare nor system claiming by 'TEH BLOBS' low-sec sees a lot of travel from empire<->0.0 in the form of people hauling their stuff in and out (aka GOOD TARGETS) low-sec sees a lot of faction warfare noobs (aka GOOD TARGETS) The most pro solo/smallgang pvpers operate mostly from low-sec, NOT 0.0 and NOT empire (due mostly to the above stated characteristics of low-sec)
low-sec suffering from Tiny Balls Syndrome?.. are you really THAT daft? Low-sec pvp is as close to proper tactical and team-work dependant pvp as you are going to get.
yeh and the one thing you forgot to mention. Half of low sec and FACTION WAR have a high security status. For pirate and people like us (whos natural home is low sec, its where we live, we cant enter high sec) thats a pretty big disadvantage.
I know all about low sec, and pretty much every mechanic and how it all works. I've lived there nearly the whole time I've been playing eve.
90% of the time I'm rocking a GCC, and unless your actualy -10 yourself you wont understand just how big of a disadvantage it is.
But I dont care about disadvantages, or that I play EvE on Hard Mode. No, all I care about is people with tiny nads, with bigger ships, more numbers, but still not willing to fight off of the gates.
TESTICAL ENLARGEMENTS FOR FREE! DO IT CCP!
Whats the point of surviving the harshest environment a game has to offer if there's nothing gained except begrudging recognition of a few others? I'm masochistic and into it. But if we're honest with ourselves when something is dieing there's always some folks who hang on until the last moment. At a certain point even the harshest lifestyle becomes doldrums so arguing that its fine, that there is no reward because the challenge is enough of a reward itself is a moot point when there really isn't anything challenging, just tedium.

Edited by: ISK1machine on 05/10/2010 10:53:40 Only time i ve seen the alliance of the Op was while they were attempting to camp a low sec station with 2-3 BSs,2-3 BCs and 2 carriers in the high level risk zone of docking range... People in low sec consider themselves "something" when the truth is simple:they are only good as their scouts are. Someone else whined about "HICs and dictors" while the sensoboosted 2k scan reso recons have similar effects.Ofc all that in while "risking" camping a gate with 3-4 scouts all around. So low sec is usually "zomg look at me i am leet in my 5-6 man camp killing 1 ship" and then ***** about it when someone brings teh blobzzz P.S:you can use perfectly well logis in low sec...its called spider tank

Forget the testicle enhancements, these things solve your problems:
1. Delete all forms of ECM from the game, replace with something far more rubbish, ECM just doens't scale downwards to small scale engagements in any kind of way. Turn it into some tracking disruptor for missiles as this is needed anyway because there is so little counter to "blob of drakes". 2. Make gang boosters have to be active on same grid as the fight with an effective 50km optimal, 50km falloff (declining to zero bonuses at 200km). 3. Prevent people docking while they are engaged in combat at all then you learn who really has balls.
There would be less people out there pvp'ing but at least those that did would have to either have a big pair of balls, or a large waiting blob.

Nerf killmails. Would lead to much fewer yarr-tards and make low-sec more sane.
Also get rid of local. Everywhere (maybe keep it in noob systems or something).

But then we need a RR/logistics jammer, a energy neut jammer, a nos jammer, a tracking link jammer, remote sensor boost jammer, and other stuff normally jammed out by ecm.

I don't understand this. You want pilots to fly your way so you can have a chance to beat them? It doesn't make any sense. It's like complaining when the pirate dishonors your agreement -- hello pirate?

Fact is most of EVE has TBS. Very few people are willing to risk anything without the odds hugely in their favour and that includes nullsec, low sec and high sec pvp'rs and carebears.
OP has a nice K/D ratio with most of it being very small gang stuff but trying to convince anyone that thats a viable tactic vs blobbing its gonna be like bashing your head against a very stubborn brick wall.
Also TBS is not just a symptom thats developed in the last few years, its been this way since not long after EvE launched. Proving once again, that, I AM BETTER THAN YOU. |

Twice in one month I screwed up in wormholes and should have been popped but the small gangs that outnumbered me five to one were more afraid of me than I of them.
I get it: if there is no trickery to be played at gates or stations, a superior force is still too squeamish to attack.
Pathetic.
