Accountability not just to customers but stock holders tends to produce a better product...don't you think?

They would want the most subscribers possible, and well, we've seen where games that try and take the quickest route to that go.

Accountability to stockholders would result in CCP focusing on making more money, not making a better game. They would try even harder to get new subscriptions and let the existing content and subscribers languish. I've seen this in a bunch of other games, and it's really, really ugly. For EVE, this means: generate content max. for the first 7 months of gameplay, as ppl on avarage dont play longer (ccp figure).
