I haven't been doing this for long and I'm not trying to collect everything. Just a few bits a pieces interest me.
However I tend to run into a common problem - finding out if the item actually exists. It seems that there are a lot of items that are in the database and are supposed to be in-game but don't have a "drop-point".
The last item to make that list of "It's real but you ain't never gonna get it" is the Ancient Painblades.
I've checked everything and asked everyone but GMs and CCP. As far as I can tell it doesn't exist. I also checked Entity's collection (yes, I know he doesn't have everything).
So coming to the point. Does anyone have it or seen it somewhere? At this point it's curiousity. Also if a GM/CCP stumbles upon this post, would you mind telling me why certain items are in-game but aren't attainable?
P.S. Yes I also would like to buy it if it does exist.

I can answer this one with the mightiest weapon at my disposal... logic
Items are put into the game for whatever reason then removed, but because you cant really remove said item from someones cargo bay without everyone crying, CCP just prevent the item from spawning, remove its purpose and voila, until the item is destroyed it will remain. Or until CCP sees fit to remove it entirely from the database.

Thanks for the post. However you really didn't explain anything. How it works I'm aware of. I know that certain items have stopped spawning and that certain missions that had them were removed (CONCORD for example).

That's nice. I have some too. If anyone wants to trade mines for the Ancient Painblades I'll be more than happy to deal with you.

Your post is a complete mystery to me. You linked Entity's collection which doesn't have the item. Which is what I said in the post itself. This and the fact that noone has ever seen them is what made me think they were never in the game to begin with.

I think the Ancient Painblades, along with a few similar items like the Vherokior Dragon Statuette, were made for Serenity (the Chinese client) for one of their holidays/festivals. So, that's why you can see but not touch.

Well at least I can stop chasing something that's not even on my server.

Please add Ancient Painblades with Incarna. Make it so I can walk up and Painblade someone in a bar. Whatever they might be, I too definitely want a set.
