Hello people...i am a minmatar pilot...i was wondering if i get the command ship will i be able to use both of them as good all around ships for the remainder of eve?? like for pve/pve, roaming gangs, and fleet fights?? i really like the look of them and i want to stay away from battleships..my main goal is to use command ships as my all around ship and possibly get a dreadnaught or carrier later on...by all means i would like to skip over battleships cause i dont like the looks or mobility...is this goal efficent??

There is no wrong way to eat a Reese's, man. Becoming a dedicated command ship pilot is as legit as any other path.
That said, command ships have bonuses that make them really excel at fleet operations more than anything else. From a purely mechanical perspective, be aware that you're choosing a path that's not really designed for solo or even small group. This, again, is not to say that you cannot make it work, and honestly it will open up a nice wide variety of ships and will probably be fun, but know that you'll be wasting a lot of nifty bonuses when you aren't in a 10+ man fleet.
Basically, getting command ships involves maxing the battlecruisers skill, and I'd expect you'll find just flying those BCs around to be more rewarding in the long run. ---

What you could try doing is flying a Cyclone or Hurricane. Both of them can fit 1 warfare link module and a bunch of weapons.
If you like flying it, then work your way towards command ships as those 2 BC's are like junior command ships (more focused on doing damage than fleet boosting, but they do a little of it).

The Sleipnir is the best ship ever, can't go wrong with it.
I've never fitted any gang assist modules and used it as a solo ship Signature locked for editing a moderator's warning. Zymurgist |

Edited by: Idicious Lightbane on 06/10/2010 20:09:08 The Sleipnir is probly the best all around command ship, it can be used very well solo, in small gangs and also fit fleet boosters, it can fit a very strong active tank and DPS is very respectable. That said for missions it might not be the best option but would still work very well, just a bit more slowly than a decently trained battleship because they are not dedicated DPS ships, and missions go faster the more DPS you have.

Edited by: Xina Tutor on 06/10/2010 20:44:08 Command ships are good all round mission ships. They hit smaller targets well and still have enough dps to kill BS. Two of my main mission ships are the nighthawk (#1) and the absolution. And I have a navy apoc for main em ship and a paladin i don't really use all that much in caldari space now (set up for drone missions really).
Command ships tend to tank well, so they are nice relaxing mission ships for when you have other things to do on the side :P Perfect wife agro mission ship .. hehe.
EDIT. for pvp.. well, you are more likely to be primary :P
