Thou shalt not run GameTime Card scams. 5. Thou shalt not run any scam, including begging, in a help channel. 6. Thou shalt not impersonate any character, corporation, or CCP. Advice: * Let ~5 lines go by or limit to ~3 per minute or expect CCP reprisal. * Try not to spam a scam already being spammed in chan. Market enforced, as both are doomed to fail. * Always maintain perspective. Tis a game. Try to remain zen. * Do not spam heavily in Rens. Rumors of overeager spam enforcement there by alleged high-level GM. Of course, that might just be more scammer BS. Advice for the "clients": * Do not trust anyone anywhere without adequate collateral. * Pointing out scams in Jita makes you look silly and it never works. I have proven this repeatedly. I know you think I am lying, but it really won't change anything. * When you get scammed, remain calm. 23.3 million ISK = $1, and it was probably a dollar you would never cash in anyway. I think you'll live. Nothing is sadder than someone nerd-raging in Jita local because they lost 32 cents in game money. * Stay out of Jita local commerce until you're not a noob. * You will probably always be a noob. Sorry. 4 and 5 year old 'toons routinely fall for scams in Jita. Notes: Basically, this a compilation of rules given to me by other scammers or mentioned on websites. I have to repeat it a lot to people asking me questions in private, so now I can just link a thread. A lot of the "commandments" were taken from a channel's motd (I don't think I should say the name of it in the forums, but, props to "Jita Scam Team"). In answer to the obvious question: Yes, I am arrogant enough to post this. shrug No, I really don't mind flames. I run scams in Jita. I hear it for hours in local. No, Sunshine, you are NOT more creative than Jita local when it comes to insults. If I left something out, please feel free to speak up.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. That Navy Raven auction going for cheap... it's either just a normal raven or there's already a billion isk bid and they are hoping you click before you look. Not sure if this is for the client or the scammer, but... little scams pay off too! That person spamming in Jita that they need 400,000 for skill books... if you get 10 schnooks passing through, all donating, that's 4mil. If you get 100 in a few hours, that's 40 mil, which isn't exactly raking it in, but not chump change either.

I intentionally stayed away from any advice on how to successfully run scams, or opinions on which scams are "worthy" or lame. Except the doubling up on scams thing. But that's because it affects me. But anyway, you may look down your nose at the short con in local with contracts, but that doesn't invalidate the need for a clear rule-set for them. I'd say they are by far the most common scam...and the ones most likely to trip new players up. I just think its cheesy for CCP to be able to claim "bad boy on the block" among the MMOs for allowing scams (large and small), but not providing a consolidated rule-set for the activity. The net result has to be new players running afoul of obscure and contradictory rules and getting hassled or banned for it. Maybe CCP's staff and the majority of players gets a secret grin from that. You know, players who would scam are scum and all that. Good that they got busted, who cares where the rule was posted, or if it was posted at all. But CCP is having it both ways. They get to brag about how "cutting edge" they are, AND they get to sacrifice an occasional aspiring scammer before the unruly EVE crowds for breaking a rule posted in "news" three years ago. Or for breaking an unwritten one "everyone knows" or "should have known". Or for scamming a GM alt and getting railroaded with a hyper-sensitive interpretation of an unwritten rule on how much spam == too much spam...and seeing petitions go unanswered because he's high level and "it's just a scammer, why make waves." Or having another GM just drop a new random rule in a random location and crushing anyone who misses it. It's unprofessional and hypocritical. shrug But really, your 'toon looks like a cross between a man and my 3rd grade math teacher, Ms. Smokestoomuch. I hear they're allowing portrait changes in the next release...
