You want to know what I would like to see. I'd like to see me being able to do anything other than work my ass off mining to get a better ship and then when I do get one not have some player who has been here since the beta testing come along and blow my ship up and pod kill me just for the fun of it.
I would like to see myself warping at a speed higher than 2au. I would like to be able to drop out of warp so I can see if the gate is clear not pop out 22k away and then travel at a snails pace of 260 m/s to my death being unable to warp away fast enough.
I would like to see the money I spent to buy this game back in my pocket but CCP could care less about protecting or even helping new players. They got their money when we bought the game. This game will fail due to one reason and one reason only, Players who have been here from the beta testing will kill the new player just for the hell of it, and when you have to start all over again from square one 6 times in one month it's not worth the time or the money for an account so you can be killed over and over again.

Nice rant! Makes sense CCP, you need to add different ways to get money.

Agreed, 1.0 systems should be COMPLETELY off limits to pirates - ie they can't use jump gates to even gain ACCESS.
0.9 they can use but the sentry guns should pound the hell out of anyone with a sec rating of -3.0.

Warp speed limit is fine, any advance on it is unlikely to have much effect on travel time, you can reduce the number of long-distance warps by getting Warp Drive Operation skill (which lowers the capacitor usage) or skills and modules that improve total capacitor or recharge rate.
I travel at a "snails pace" of 1,000 m/s between warp point and jump, this is using 2 afterburners I can turn on all day without draining the capacitor. Using an extra burner I can get 1,400 m/s, this is all in a simple frigate and I designed it and my skills to reduce travel time and dodge pirates, however, I cannot carry much freight and if I do get caught I am unlikely to survive a fight.
I do agree with variable warp termination distances, but surely this will impact you severely if you have a slow ship ?

What about when your warping to a gate, why doesn't it let you out of the warp a little closer to the gate then? That way when your in a slow ship you don't have to take 3 minutes to get to the gate to jump. CCP could change that.

Hint: If you have an MWD equipped activate it just before the "Warping" message disappears - you'll come out of warp doing about 2km/s and nothing anyone can do can target you and kill you by the time it takes you to get to the jumpgate "Jump" distance.
If you've got to make any kind of journey through low risk sectors and aren't planning on a pirate-looting sidetrip, just do the above and you'll be very hard to kill.

unless you are in a .4 sec or lower system a pker probably won't hurt you at a jump gate, because of the Jump Gate sentry turrets. If you are mining up for a new ship and then just run out to 0.0 sec space you are inviting yourself to be podded, that is the reason why 0.0 space exists. Anyway, as for speed 2au/s is fast enough, the main problem you seem to be having is not having the agility to align yourself for the warp or not accelerating fast enough. You can improve your agility at least with Evasive Maneuvers skill but the acelleration is still very good compared to regular acceleration. I don't think that any of this needs to be changed or it will interfere with the fact that this IS a PVP game. Caliban, Founder and CEO Janus Pilot Corps Stetille, Sinq Laison |
