So say I hit someone with an ECM, is there something that says I was successful in jamming them? Or not so I can pop another ECM on them.

Disclaimer: I don't use ECM
Having said that - I would imagine that your target would lose lock and would no longer be red-boxing you on your overview.

Thx for that one, but there's a little bar that appears under the target you got locked with a countdown for how long the jam cycle lasts. Signature locked for editing a moderator's warning. Zymurgist |

Yeah but does that show up even if you were not successful?
These are in group fights, so I may not already be locked by the target.

Edited by: Zephyr Mallory on 09/10/2010 00:17:05 You'll get a single countdown bar for each seperate type of EWAR below the target's portrait, i.e., 1 bar for jamming, 1 bar for sensor dampening, and 1 bar for target painting.
If you have 2 jammers, you'll only get one bar if either or both is successful, but no bar if neither is successful. Target Painters and Sensor dampeners are always successful, but less effective at ranges beyond their optimal.

The bar only pops up on successful jams. So when you turn on a jam you'll either see a bar countdown or none. When the countdown finishes you are no longer jamming and need to try a rejam.
Just remember that ECM doesn't stack, each ECM mod is basically a role of the dice with increasing odds in your favour based on your skills and your targets sensor strength (lower the better).
Also its not uncommon to have several jams on a target without having a successful jam.
Practice on a Corp mate for a half hour and that'll give you a feel of it. |
