A couple of months back (not anymore) I had so much ISK, that I could create an alt account with both accounts on PLEX. I figured I wanted the account to be:
- An industry alt so I could haul around stuff and makes lot's of ISK more easily.
2. Must be a female and name her like she was was my mains wife. Yeah it's that's sad.
So anyways I jumped into this headlong probably like a ****** figuring I would learn along the way. Soon it came to my attention that I did not get rich nor was it fun.
- Mining just sucks.
Building stuff requires BPO's that have to be heavily researched to become profitable. Built stuff makes you very little ISK.
What my indy character did excel at though was hauling stuff until I got too paranoid using the Crane and avoiding bubbles. She did make a lot of ISK though off Planetary Interaction. I started making Enriched Uranium and made a lot until it sold for cheap. Then I went with Coolant and now that too is cheap. I looked at the PI stuff and the only thing that is profitable now is Robotics. It takes a lot to make those and if I bought the raw materials, I would not make much ISK at all. I tried R&D but that takes a lot of time to make ISK. I have not tried Invention though.
I think I'm at a dead end with her but I still have an attachment with the character. She is named after my main and I feel like I'm doing something wrong. So should I sell the character? If so, what type of ISK would she fetch for? Eve-Sheet

You don't have the patience do be an industrialist.
Selling your main's wife is tragic, you used her when prices were good now she's got a few wrinkles and you want to dump her.
I hope she finds a good home and gets the respect she deserves. You, on the other hand, need to work on your adolescent need for immediate gratification and take a more long term look at how you treat your characters.
This will fall on deaf ears, I'm afraid, as you will scoff at my analysis and continue to rationalize your manipulative and callous behavior.

As nearly as I can tell (i'm no vet at it), industry in general pays off in the much longer term. You're talking months (at best) to break close to even on your investment in the character and then years to realize a fully functional profit-making machine (which will never happen without a lot of planning and hard work along the way).
I'd sell the wife and cut your losses.

To be an industrialist needs patience and love for this kind of work. For very long time players who run missions will make more ISK than you and you can do nothing about it. So why bother with industry? Having well researched BPOs will give you stable income. You can always sell copies via contracts and all you have to do is to spend 2 minutes while you set up your lab. Also you have to look for new oportunities. Pick carefuly where and to who you sell your stuff. Generaly if you manage to haul you stuff to null sec and sell it there, your profits will rise significantly. It all depends on how you "do your homework" and check what do system around you need..It takes times for the tree to fully grow, but it is worth to wait because this fruit taste so good

The system was not like that when I started playing, so its unfortunate that CCP let it come to this, and unfortunate that you support what it has become.

I replaced a female avatar as my creator could not bear to see her doing things males normally need to do in Eve. He realized that the death and carnage an Eve character must preside over is an affront to feminine sensibilities and an abomination to their true nature.
He had her biomass recycled, and her consciousness remains in his mind as a sad reminder that we, to a certain extent, deign to play god with our character creation. I suspect he also has a very unhealthy relationship with biting sarcasm, and it often emerges in his jaundiced view of the human condition.

Edited by: TheMahdi on 11/10/2010 10:52:26 Invention is consistently profitable with very little risk. Most good items average from 800mil to 1.2bil a month in profits. 1bil being the average of all the items I've done. Prices rarely fluctuate too much and training to a different item is almost no difference in skills (just datacore/encryption skills to atleast 1)
Requires no heavy investments, can be done in a small POS with 1 adv. lab and 1 normal lab. Maximum investment: 200-300mil.
Also train up PI if you have a blockade runner and do simple single planet P2 chains in low sec for an extra 300mil/month with basicly no effort.
Thats what I do with my industry alt, it's consistent, easy (requires maybe 15min a day total) and profitable.

If the price is right, yes. I got 2, Gistii A-Type Small shield boosters, Hulk, Bustard, Mackinaw, and some BPO's on the contract market in Jita. Probably more too and of course eventually Rebecca.

Hey James, if Rebecca is giving you problems maybe you should just let her go. Men are constantly unsatisfied with their surroundings.
**On a side note, anything that you might not need(since you won't have an industrialist wife anymore), you can eve mail me a list and appropriate pricing. I might be able to assist with you forgeting her completely.

Industry goes get tiresome after a while, in my experience. You need to have several options so you can switch between them. Better still run them all at the same time - trading, invention, mining, missions etc.
I'd recommend invention though, low initial capital, reliable income and a good thing to build up over time - e.g. bpo stocks. The biggest pain is making sure you buy all the right materials for the T2 bpc and you don't end up going back and forth to jita/wherever as you forgot 25 hydrogen batteries.

Am i the only one who thinks its weird when guys create female toons? I mean why would a [straight] man want to play as a female? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff. -- Steven Wright |

Because otherwise there would be no female characters and/or the few female characters would soak up all the wonderful attention/free isk/help that goes along with role playing a woman roleplaying a space-woman in EVE.
