I'm not sure why anyone wants engine trails. They look cheesy and cartoonish.

Engine trails exist solely to provide a sense of speed. As in space there are few objects to see relative movement to.
It's the reason all the more dynamic aerial chase scenes take place close to the ground, close to large capital ships or close to clouds. You see how fast something is going from that.
Since those factors are not always available, you got stationary trails to really get a sense of how fast a ship is going.
and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Engine trails like those from aircraft? If so, thought they were just water vapour, do you get much water in space.
I don't see a problem with what we have now, it's perfectly adequate.

Well if they were around from 2005 then I must have turned them off. Guess they were not that awesome to me.

This It's same reason you get camera shake in warp - sense of speed. I do admit I'd turn 'em off if they were introduced again; much cleaner than having god knows how many trails all over the place, especially in Jita.

/me tingles around the delicious and fresh bait..

gah, what the hell, I'll bite.
Trails are an indicator of speed and direction in a normally empty space. Would love to get mine back.

Back when I was a wee little noob I remember one of the hooks for this game was the whole spaceships bit, and zipping around in an atron at 500m/s (Oh how fast I thought I was) and seeing a trail 5km long behind you was just so awesome.
Of course something about premium makes them unavailable or something.
+1 for getting engine trails back.

How dare you, sir. Are you going to complain if they give us back the old cyno effect too? gtfo. - It's not "Play through a pre-set story, become stronger, do endgame". Gameplay is open ended, and you make your own story. Unless you're too afraid of 'pvp grief' to do anything relevant |

Um, didn't you know? Eve takes place underwater. No seriously, I'm not trolling. Why else would ships have a top speed, or slowdown when you turn off you engines?
