It can't just be me having this problem, but I've searched the forums (inexhaustively) and can't find any other references. I also haven't raised a petition about it yet in case I'm just being a noob, which is very possible.
Too often, I exit a station, particularly in a freighter, and try to warp to a gate, only to get that annoying experience of watching my speed bar say 'warping', but keep going up and down, never actually getting to warp, because I'm colliding with the station. It doesn't happen with smaller, faster ships, but my freighter takes so long to reach warp that, if the destination is in the same direction as the station I've just exited, I hit the station before I hit warp. And so never reach warp. Stupid.
Or is it just me? |

Warp to a random celestial before warping to the gate. Takes too long to get warp up in a freighter for you to warp after undocking (unless the gate is right infront of you) |

Always have instawarps when you're in a hauler so you don't get ganked on the undock anyway. |

I use instawarps as a hauler...though they don't always work. Sometimes I'll hit warp and instantly go into warp...other times I wiggle around and take up to a minute to 'align' even though my speed is past the 75% mark... and it seems to happen randomly despite me leaving the same station and going to the same insta-warp point. In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse. |

Also, give yourself time to undock. Docking radi ate rather large, do waiting a little longer toll your freighter gets out away from bumping into the station won't endanger you. |

Many a time I've loaded up on stock from Dodixie and set my autopilot only to come back and see my Mammoth grinding that station like its Twoonie Tuesdays at the Spaceship Strip-club...
Its rather annoying, but someday I'll get around to set up my instants. |

Thats because there is some "scatter" in your flight direction upon undock, and sometimes you are not traveling close enough to the correct direction for an instant warp. The way eve has ships turn when they are traveling close to their top speed is very bad, and should be improved.
To the OP: coast out from the undock for a bit, then hit "stop ship". When you are at about 50% speed, hit warp.
Or make a bookmark several hundred km straight out from the undock (get a shuttle, undock, come back in an hour, make a book mark). right after undocking warp to it first, then the gate. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

I forced someones freighter to do that a week ago. I used my MWD geddon to bump it just before it hit warp speed, until the guy ended up rolling around on the undock. Will sell wallet space for ISK. |

it is 15 degrees from the central axis.
Ideally you identify the central axis (very easy on N/E/S/W facing stations using the tactical overlay), and then get several thousand kilometers out from it. The more perfectly aligned and farther out it is, the better your average warp time. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |

I agree, collision boxes / meshes / spheres / whatever the **** CCP uses are god awful.
Not only once have I almost lost a 5 bil Machariel due to some ******* LCO or asteroid having a collision sphere / whatever they use way larger than the object itself and getting my ship stuck and unable to move or align or warp.
FIX IT CCP.
Not to mention in some missions the mission rat battleships get stuck near the stations they spawn next to and never move. Inappropriate signature, CCP Phantom. |

If by "fix it" you mean "introduce crippling lag for an unnecessary feature", then sure?
There are quite a few good reasons that collision boxes are simplified. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |

Had that happen in the Guristas Sanctums, the ones with multiple rings. Battleships get stuck on a ring 50km away which is quite annoying since normally they would come straight into range of my sentries.

Thanks for the replies. I've got instawarp bookmarks set up in systems I visit often, I guess I'll just use those. |

You can't expect CCP to build intelligent space station designs. These people literally are not rocket scientists. Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round. |

What you do, you see is fly a little bit more away from the station, rather than spamming warp straight away.

I use to have the same problem with acc. gates quite often. Need to burn a few hundred meters away before warping is possible. FOR THE STATE! |
