I was in Rens, unloading some hangar junk, when I come across an item that had a buy order set much higher than the rest of the buy orders for the same price. However, when I tried to sell said item, it did not pick up the higher buy order price, but rather the lower ones. Can someone explain this to me? Sounds pretty shady but I cannot even figure out how something like this is possible. It had a higher minimum quanity? It was in a different station outside your range? Without more details, really no clue.

Not sure about the quantity, but it was same station. Let Caesar never forget, though he may rule with the authority of the gods, he is allowed to rule by the whim of the people. |

Since it's the same price as the other buy orders, sounds like they just set a higher than average minimum sell price. If the guy sets it so you can only sell to him in quantities bigger than say...5, if you try to sell him 4 of the item then it will go to the next available order instead since you didn't meet the minimum. |

1. Guy sets up a buy order for an item at 25% higher then the average price (maybe even higher than sell orders). 2. Guy sets minimum quantity so high that players can't fill the minimum requirement. 3. Guy then sets up a new buy order for almost nothing (higher then any regional buy orders, but picks a station with no other orders in it).
When you sell the item thinking you're getting this great deal it defaults to the next lowest buy order price, which would be the buy order for almost nothing.

Irritating. Would rather have a confirmation prompt prior to it flipping down. Adama: Starbuck, what do you hear? Starbuck: Nothing but the rain. Adama: Then grab your gun and bring in the cat. |

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Margin Trading scam.
It's likely that were you to collect the required minimum (probably from the scammer at some highly inflated price compared to legit buy orders), the order would fail due to insufficient funds in the buyers wallet. EvE: Everyone vs Everyone

Is the faked high price also the one been shown, when using simple sell?
